MAIN IDEA: War is not a glorious and exciting adventure
QUOTE: “coughing like hags we cursed through sludge”

EFFECT OF USING THIS LANGUAGE FEATURE
The effect of using those two langue feature was that It described
what the soldiers situations were and the actions they were doing
such as in the quote above they were coughing and their physical
health conditions was poor and they were in terrible conditions that
they cursed because of how bad the situation was and with the
descriptive language Wilfred Owen used it really paints a vivid
picture in the readers head

IDEA… The smilie I have used as an example links to the main idea
by describing what it was like in the war by saying “coughing like
hags we cursed through sludge” that relates in with the main idea of
the poem which is war and the language feature describes how
they were “coughing like slags” as the conditions they were in
made them sick and them “going through sludge” describes what
their surrounding were like and that war was no nice in any form of
aspect

like to experience the gas attacks from the opposing side in the
war and how it was like to see men killed over it and being helpless
and how terrifying it was

MAIN IDEA: About how scary and what the conditions were like of
war
QUOTE: “Only the monstrous anger of the guns”

Personification
EFFECT OF USING THIS LANGUAGE FEATURE
giving a human effect to something that is non-living such as for in
this example Wilfred Owen describes the guns as being angry and
monstrous

The personification used in this quote really gives you an idea of
how the guns must of been like to hear in the war non-stop in the
background loud as ever and causing death as Wilfred Owen its it
he describes them as monstrous and angry which is made clear to

fighting for their country and their own lives whilst they are stuck at
home praying they are okay and being helpless

explaining what it would like to be patiently waiting ro your loved

The language feature used in this quote clearly shows the reader
how horrible it would be to be stuck at home just waiting to hear
from your loved one that has been sent to war and praying that they
safely come home, alive.
