CYPRESS-WOODLANDS JUNIOR FORUM
FOUNDING MEMBERS SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW
The Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum (CWJF) is proud to offer graduating
senior women the opportunity to apply for a Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum Founding
Members Scholarship. Scholarship recipients will be chosen from qualified applicants in all
high schools in the Conroe, Klein, Magnolia, Spring and Tomball public school districts and
from students who attend Cypress Creek, Cypress Woods, Cypress-Fairbanks, and Jersey
Village high schools in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
The Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum Founding Members Scholarship is open
to all young women regardless of race, color, creed, or national origin. Each $1,000
scholarship will be awarded in May of the current school calendar year. All applicants’
information will be completely confidential. The scholarship recipient will be selected from
information submitted by application and through a personal interview process. If an
applicant is unable to attend her scheduled interview, consideration may be based on her
application only. An impartial panel of the Community Outreach Committee of the CypressWoodlands Junior Forum will administer the selection process. No relative of any CWJF
member is eligible for this scholarship.
QUALIFICATIONS ARE BASED ON THE FOLLOWING IN ORDER OF PRIORITY
1. COMMUNITY SERVICE: CWJF believes that community service builds strong
individuals committed to excellence and opportunity for all. Consideration will be
given to volunteer service in the community-sponsored as well as in school-sponsored
volunteer organizations. For example, volunteer service may be performed through
hospitals, religious or volunteer organizations and community-sponsored charitable
projects.
2. ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE: CWJF strongly supports academic excellence and
the discipline and hard work required to meet college admission standards, as well as
the ability to maintain full-time student status.
3. FINANCIAL NEED: CWJF believes in educational opportunity and access for all.
Each of the applications will be considered based on individual need.
The primary consideration in the selection process is to reward, honor, and
encourage students who have dedicated their time and energies to improving their
world through community service.
The Cypress-Woodlands Junior Forum is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), volunteer service organization. Founded in 1982,
CWJF is one of nine chapters of Junior Forums, Incorporated, which originated in Houston, Texas in 1946. CWJF
is a growing organization of women dedicated to providing volunteer services, leadership and philanthropy to
enrich the northern corridor of Houston. In partnership with individuals, families, schools, organizations and
corporations, CWJF strives to fulfill identified needs in an evolving community where the participation of its
members can be most effective encompassing education, crisis intervention, interactions with an aging population
and support for people with disabilities. CWJF is widely recognized for its compassion, integrity and steadfast
involvement in community outreach. CWJF is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children, families,
and the elderly.
