Being wrong -- 02-28-14 The week after The Beatles’ first appearance on Ed Sullivan in 1964, Newsweek magazine reviewed their American debut: “Visually they are a nightmare: tight, overdressed, Edwardian/Beatnik suits. Musically, they are a near disaster. Their lyrics [punctuated by a nutty shout of yeah, yeah, yeah!] are a catastrophe. And the article ended with, “…odds are they will fade away, as most adults confidently predict.” Yeah, yeah, yeah. Don’t you just love it when know-it-alls eat humble pie? So humility is one of the great spiritual lessons… it’s often necessary that we learn it by being absolutely, embarrassingly wrong. Just a thought.
