Rome Project Writing Prompts Each student (or group) will be required to complete a 5 paragraph essay based on his or her activity number. Each essay will be graded on your ability to write with a formal tone, use proper transitions, and correctly cite sources (with in­text citation). Also, be sure to follow the outline­­This will ensure you have properly structured your essay. Activity Choices: 1. Research the religious, spiritual, or cultural beliefs of the civilization, and the effects these beliefs had on their cultures (daily practice, laws, rituals, ceremonies, holidays, etc.) 2. Evaluate what is was like to live in Rome during the republic. Compare and contrast the Roman republic to what it is like to live in the United States today. 3. Describe or demonstrate a technological advance or invention of the time period studied. Determine its impact on the culture and its impact in the same field of learning. 4. Determine how a person’s economic class affected his or her living. Describe the daily life of people in several different social classes. 5. Free Choice 6. Prepare a detailed biography of 2 Roman emperors: one who did good things for the people and one who did not. Compare and contrast their styles of governance and their impact on the empire. 8. Prioritize the accomplishments of the Roman empire in regard to their impact on the people of ancient Rome and also in regard to their impact on the modern world. 9. Prioritize the reasons for the fall of Rome, describing them from most to least influential. Give reasons for your ranking.
