of most businesses. Over the next 20 – 30 years computers are going to become more
integrated into nearly every aspect of our business and personal lives. A Bachelor’s
degree in Computer Science will prepare you with the theoretical knowledge and the
practical skills necessary to play a key role in this computer revolution.
The Computer Science degree is focused on the systems analysis, systems design,
database administration, networking, and computer program aspects of the IT
industry. As a Computer Science professional you will be equipped to design and
implement computer systems within nearly any industry.
What can I do with my
Computer Science degree?
The Murdoch Dubai Foundation Program
(MDFP), equivalent to Year 12, provides
guaranteed entry into the first year of
all Murdoch University bachelor degree
courses offered at the Dubai Campus.

Students pursuing the foundation
program come from diverse high school
curriculums include the GCSE, IGCSE,

Course Structure
Year 1
FOUNDATION UNIT
All first year students are required to
take a Foundation Unit. This is designed
to provide you with the necessary skills
to succeed at university.
CORE UNITS
There are five core units that must be
taken in the first year:
• Introduction to Computer Science
• Introduction to Data Communications
• Principles of Computer Science
• Fundamentals of Computer Systems
• Computational Mathematics
Prospective students can enter MDFP
from Year 11, Year 12, or as a mature age
student (19+).

GENERAL ELECTIVES
To complete your year two and three
studies you must complete six 200 to 400
level units offered by the University, subject
to individual unit prerequisites.
Recommended double
majors
For those students who desire the maximum
flexibility in their IT career options, a double
major with the Bachelor of Science in Business
Information Systems is recommended.
To take a double major, students simply take
the core units from another major in place
of their general electives units. In most cases
a double major can be completed without
additional time or cost. Please speak to our
admissions counsellors for more information
on double major possibilities.
