CIT CENTER FOR INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY CIT Support, Who are We? CIT Support is a division of the Center for Instructional Technology. Our purpose is to provide support for the various hardware and software technologies used to enhance the learning experience at James Madison University. These technologies include Canvas, Blackboard, Blackboard Collaborate, Clickers, and the hardware and software platforms found in the technology classrooms on campus. If you are unfamiliar with any of these technologies, here is a short introduction for each... Canvas is JMU’s new Learning Management System (https://canvas.jmu.edu). Canvas offers instructors a diverse set of educational tools which can be added to courses to enhance the learning experience. Blackboard Collaborate is an online synchronous meeting space also found in Canvas. Blackboard, JMU’s other Learning Management System, (http://blackboard.jmu.edu) will be shut down permanently at the end of spring 2014. CIT will help JMU faculty move content from Blackboard to Canvas during the 2013-14 academic year. Clickers are small, handheld devices that can be used in your classroom to poll your students and actively engage them in the material you are teaching. Technology Classrooms are classrooms which have been equipped with computers, projectors, and other various educational technologies used to enhance the in-classroom learning experience. If you would like to know more about how Canvas, Blackboard, Blackboard Collaborate, or Clickers can be used to enhance your students’ experience with your course, please contact CIT Support at 568-5312 or citsupport@jmu.edu. If you need to report a problem or need assistance with the equipment in a technology classroom, please contact Classroom Technology Services at 568-6799 or tchelp@jmu.edu.
