StepForward™ Program Guide for Software For Rockwell Automation and Distributors Only Publication FTALK-RM002C-EN-P - January 2010 Supersedes FTALK-RM002B-EN-P - May 2008 StepForward Program Guide for Software StepForward™ is a two-tiered incentive program that was developed to reward and retain current Rockwell Automation customers who want to buy new Rockwell Automation products. The program simplifies technology management and protects your customers’ investment. This program provides both migration and upgrade incentives to existing customers. An upgrade is the substitution of one current product for another current product, such as a change from a FactoryTalk View SE 100 screen license to a FactoryTalk View SE 250 screen license. An upgrade reflects a change to a version of the product with expanded features or capacity. The StepForward program also incorporates the process for software license upgrades (i.e., migrating from FactoryTalk node-locked to FactoryTalk concurrent activation). Migration often involves the replacement of a retiring product with a current product, such as the replacement of an RSMACC Change Management software package with a product from the new FactoryTalk AssetCentre suite. Migration can also include the replacement of a current product with a different, but related current product that provides more functionality, such as a migration from FactoryTalk View ME to FactoryTalk View SE. Variability in products or in a product’s configuration may cause the specifics of a product-to-product migration program to differ from one offering to another. In each case, a description of the program with example references will be provided. This program is available in the United States. Outside of the United States, please check with the local Rockwell Automation office for participation. Contact your local Allen-Bradley Distributor or Rockwell Automation sales office if you have any questions. Participation by distributors is voluntary. Program Changes The StepForward program incorporates four main changes to StepForward software upgrades: 1. Rather than a credit-based rebate, the upgrade will be submitted like any other one-time negotiation that uses a Passport quote. While you will continue to enter the same key information on the quote (see below) as for the previous credit-based program, the upgrade is simplified to a single transaction at the upgrade net price. 2. While the suggested list price of the upgrade continues to be the difference in the list price of the products + $200, the $200 upgrade fee will no longer be part of the price of the product and will only be charged on an upgrade transaction basis. This change has two ramifications. First, multiple quantity upgrades are simpler and less expensive. Second, since the fee is a transaction fee and is not charged per catalog, distributor multipliers will no longer apply to the upgrade fee. So, whether the customer wants to upgrade one catalog or many, as long as the upgrade is between different editions of the same product, the customer only pays $200. Please see the StepForward A1 example below and the Software Upgrade Calculator for details. 3. The StepForward software program will incorporate and replace the previous process for upgrading node-locked licenses to concurrent licenses. For a simple single product upgrade from node-locked to concurrent, the quote is just like the feature or capacity upgrade. If your customer has many node-locked licenses, there is a trade-in option for upgrading to concurrent licenses. See the StepForward B1 example and the Software Upgrade Calculator for details. 1 4. The program now includes the addition of migration plans: • RSView32 to FactoryTalk View SE • RSView ME or FactoryTalk View ME to FactoryTalk View SE • RSMACC Change Management to FactoryTalk AssetCentre • RSBizWare Historian to FactoryTalk Historian Site Edition StepForward Program for Toolkit Owners Software Toolkit owners often use and may resell Rockwell Software products. Since there are special pricing and support arrangements for Toolkit owners, we want to provide you with information on how to handle these important customers. The following guidelines explain how software products may be upgraded by Toolkit owners. These guidelines help ensure that our software registration database has the correct owner associated with the product owned. Scenario 1: Old product in Partner Account that they want to sell. • Must be current in a Toolkit program • They can purchase for $200 + price difference • Resale discounts do not apply Scenario 2: Partner purchased for project, but ownership is not transferred. • Must be current in a Toolkit program • They can purchase for $200 + price difference • Resale discounts do not apply Scenario 3: Partner’s end customer wants to upgrade. • Customer must upgrade through distributor • End customer must be in support • Resale discounts do not apply If the guidelines for Toolkit owners cannot be followed, then a custom quote will be required and it will not be considered to be StepForward. How Does the StepForward Software Program Work? The StepForward program will continue to have two types of approaches: Migration and Upgrade. Migration discounts are used when an older product is replaced by a newer one. Due to changes between older products and newer products, migration rules are often unique to individual migrations. For example, they may be time-limited, offer different levels of discount than upgrades, or may have other conditions that need to be met. However, unless otherwise specified, migration programs will require a Passport quote for processing. NOTE: Pricing of individual product catalog numbers used in the following examples are subject to change. It is recommended that you verify all pricing and applicable discount schedules in Passport or use the latest Upgrade Calculator. The Calculator provides worksheets for StepForward A1, A2, and B1 migrations. For computations related to other migration codes, refer to the applicable migration sheet to perform the calculations manually. Unresolved questions should be directed to the Distributor Response Center. 2 Upgrade discounts are used to allow a current product to upgrade to a better edition of the same product. The conditions for the upgrade are: 1. The new product price must be equal to or more expensive than the price of the older product. 2. The FINAL upgrade price will be the difference between the list price of the new product and the list price of the product being exchanged + $200 US. The standard distributor discount schedules (E1 through E5) apply to the product upgrade price, but do NOT apply to the $200 upgrade fee. For example, a list price of $500 for a catalog number for a new product less the list price of $400 for the catalog number being exchanged is a difference of $100. Apply the distributor discount to this difference of $100 according to the appropriate calculation to determine the upgrade cost of the software, then add $200 for the upgrade fee. 3. To qualify for the discount, the older product must be in-support and the serial number must be supplied to retire it from support. We feel strongly that TechConnect offers such value to our customers that we have implemented an attractive pricing structure to encourage customers whose software is currently out-of-support to obtain support and upgrade their software through this program. Refer to the following table. Old Out-of-Support Catalog Old In-Support Catalog New Method StepForward Upgrade List Price $1,960 $1,310 $1,319 Distributor Net $1,215 $812 $818 $403 N/A $169 “Charge” for Support Total Net Price $1,215 $987 Yes Yes No Yes NO YES Upgraded Software TechConnect Included Better Customer Value? 4. As usual with a StepForward policy, NO additional discounts may be applied. If StepForward is utilized, no other negotiated or promotional discounts may be applied. 5. Any deviation from StepForward rules will require a concession quote with justification for the special pricing. You can expect that a StepForward upgrade quote will be processed in 1 to 2 days. Any exceptions may take any additional time. 3 Upgrade Type Feature or Capacity Upgrade Code for Quote StepForward A1 License Upgrade StepForward A2 RSView32 to FactoryTalk View SE RSView ME (or FactoryTalk View ME) to FactoryTalk View SE RSView SE or FactoryTalk View SE Station to FactoryTalk View SE Networked RSMACC Change Management to FactoryTalk AssetCentre StepForward B1 General Pricing Policy Difference in List + $200 upgrade fee (per quote, only one set of same product per quote) Same as A1, but may trade in more licenses for fewer as long as net result is >= $0 20% off of new product price StepForward B2 20% off of new product price StepForward B3 20% off of new product price StepForward B4 RSBizWare Historian to FactoryTalk Historian SE StepForward B5 Old DOS programming software to RSLogix 5 or RSLogix 500 StepForward B6 Tthe quote should request 9515-ASTRSMACENE for a price of $4,995 USD and the asset capacity catalog items at no charge Contact your local Rockwell Automation sales representative or distributor for discount amounts offered through September 30, 2010 20% off of new product price NOTE: When viewing this file electronically, the attachments referred to in this document may be accessed by selecting the Attachments tab in the lower-left corner of the Adobe Acrobat window. Feature or Capacity Upgrade How does the StepForward A1 software upgrade program work for an end-user? 1. Ensure that you have the correct catalog number and serial number for products to be upgraded. Verify that the product is in-support. 2. Enter the quote for the desired product at the “Difference in List Price + $200.” If you don’t have the spreadsheet available, you can calculate the upgrade price ((List Price of New Product – Current List Price of trade-in) * Distributor Multiplier + $200)). As shown below, please be sure to enter StepForward A1 in the Proj/Job field in the quote header. In the comment section of the Competitive Summary screen, include both catalog numbers and serial number for products being traded-in. 4 Example of StepForward A1 Software Upgrade (Scenario of upgrading 300 tag edition of RSView32 Runtime to 1500 tag edition) 1. The catalog number for 300 tag RSView32 Runtime is 9301-2SE3203 and the customer has supplied a serial number for it. The current list price is $2590 and the distributor multiplier for Visualization software is .62 (Schedule E4). So the value of the trade-in is $2590 * .62 = $1605.80.The customer wants to upgrade to the 1500 tag version of RSView32. The catalog number is 9310-2SE3303 and it lists for $3710. Using the same distributor multiplier, the net price is $3710 * .62 = $2300.20. 2. The final price is the difference in the prices + $200. That is, $2300.20 – $1605.80 + $200 = $894.40. Please note: Depending on rounding, the price shown may be slightly different if the calculation is done manually. Please use the Upgrade Calculator spreadsheet for exact pricing. See screen shots below for reference. Start here and fill-in the quote header as with any other special pricing quote. If you are not familiar with quote entry, please see the Passport help section on the Distributor Extranet or call the DRC. Note the special entries in the Quote and Proj/Job fields. The Proj/Job description will vary based on the upgrade type as documented in the table above. 5 In the competitive summary comment summary, please enter the information shown in green for your specific upgrade situation. The example shown below is for a trade-in of RSView32 300 tag software. 6 Using the upgrade calculator spreadsheet, determine the multiplier for the upgrade and enter it, along with the desired catalog number, as shown (below). Example is for RSView32 1500. License Upgrade What are the requirements for StepForward A2 Software License Upgrades? 1. Active TechConnect Support contract 2. Serial numbers being upgraded are in support 3. Product being migrated supports both node-locked and concurrent activations 4. A2 upgrades are restricted to upgrades within a product family (RSLogix 500 for RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5 for RSLogix 5, etc). Upgrades from RSLogix 5 to RSLogix 5000 are NOT allowed. Example Showing Steps to Submit a Passport Quote for Upgrade The following is an example of upgrading node-locked activations to concurrent activations when the Trade in Quantity < Purchase Quantity. Passport quotes must be entered by the distributor (or Rockwell Automation Account Manager) for these upgrades. Reviewing the Scenario A customer would like to trade-in 100 installs of RSLogix 500 Standard software with node-locked activations for 100 installs of RSLogix 500 Standard Concurrent activations. The 100 installs of RSLogix 500 have been consolidated to a single serial number of FactoryTalk activation. 7 Step 1: Determining Pricing The first step is to determine the price for the upgrade. Use the software calculator to determine the price of the software license upgrade. The calculator is posted on the RSI Extranet at: http://www.software.rockwell.com/extranet/promoprog/index.cfm The following information is needed for the calculator: • Node-locked catalog number • Concurrent catalog number • Desired quantity of activations to trade in • Desired purchase quantity (concurrent activations) The following is a capture screen of the software calculator: Important Considerations: • The original request was to do a one-for-one exchange. The calculated results would have resulted in additional cost for the upgrade. • By reducing the install from 100 to 83 we are able to minimize the cost associated with the software license upgrade. • With such an exchange, customer is responsible for the $200.00 processing fee, while the distributor get a $150.00 net. For the next step use the calculated pricing from the calculator for completing the Passport quote. Step 2: Entering the Quote in Passport • Open the Passport application and go to the PNQAH screen. • In the Proj/Job field shown below, specify upgrade code: StepForward A2 8 • In the PNQAS Passport screen, enter the following information • Node-locked catalog number • Serial number(s) to retire • End customer name • Single media with multiple installs (Yes/No) • Typically “Yes” Only a single CD provided • “No” Media CD provided for each serial number. NOTE: The screen below captures the document example. 9 • In the PNQAJ Passport screen, enter the following information • Concurrent catalog number • Desired purchase quantity • Passport quote multiplier (obtain from the FY2008 Software Upgrade Calculator) • Distributor cost after credit (obtain from the FY2008 Software Upgrade Calculator) NOTE: The screen below captures the document example. At this point the quote is completed ! 10 Product-to-Product Migration Migration involves the replacement of a retiring product with a current product. Due to the variability in product configurations, migration programs may differ from product to product in certain aspects. Commonly, though, each will have a program description indicating the catalog number migration, the cost of the exchange (if any), qualifying characteristics (such as requiring active in-support maintenance), a program expiration date (migrations are offered for a limited time period) and other requirements as necessary. Details are provided in the individual migration supporting documents. StepForward B1: RSView32 to FactoryTalk View SE Current RSView32 customers can migrate their RSView32 software to FactoryTalk View SE software for a 20% discount. The discount applies to each individual RSView32 software license converted. For example, one RSView32 Works package can provide a discount for one FactoryTalk View SE Server, Station, Client, or Studio package. One RSView32 package cannot provide more than a single discount. For details, see the attached StepForward migration document for FactoryTalk View SE (FTALK-RN010A-EN-E). Passport Screen #1 This screen identifies the discount type.
