ProSystem fx Export Procedures
This guide uses drive z: to represent your network drive letter. Please substitute your actual network
drive letter each time you see a reference to the “z:” drive.
1.
Navigate to the following ProSystem fx Tax folder on your network:
Z:\wfx32\client\14i
2.
Select the client’s 2014 ProSystem fx Tax data files. The data file has an extension of U4i. The
data file name is typically eight digits long and corresponds with the Client ID used in ProSystem
fx Tax. The data file name is printed on the bottom right corner of the front page of the client’s
2013 tax return.

Copy the selected File to: Z:\Xpitax Files Uploaded.
Note: The entity tax returns are stored in folders that reflect the type of entity. For
example, corporate returns are saved in Z:\wfx32\client\14c. Replace .u4i as
follows for other types of tax returns:
Corporation
Partnership
S Corporation
Fiduciary
.u4c
.u4p
.u4s
.u4f

1.
Move the ProSystem fx Tax data file into the following folder on your network:
Z:\wfx32\commun\newbin
2.
Restore the tax data file to your ProSystem fx Tax database:
a. Open Communications from the ProSystem fx Tax menu.
b. Select the Process menu option located at the top left of the Internet Communications
window. Do not use the “Process Returns at Center” button located in the center of the
Communications window. Please note that the Process menu options will only be
active if there are data files located in the Z:\wfx32\commun\newbin folder.
c. ProSystem fx Tax adds the 2014 data file to your tax database. The Transfer program
will display a warning because a previous version of the 2014 tax data file exists. You will
have the option to overwrite an existing version by selecting the existing Task number in
the Rtn Version drop down list
