Welcome to our 86th Season As president of Lake Charles Little Theatre, I would like to personally invite you to join us for our 86th season! I am excited about our shows for the coming year, and even more proud of introducing to our audiences a roster of new directors who will be helming our productions this season: Randy Partin (On With the Show!), Gabriel Brown (Fences), and Frank Cooper (Lend Me a Tenor). Our veteran director, James Johnson, will also be helming a show this season, marking his 40th year directing at the LCLT (The HoteL Baltimore). Break a leg, and hope to “see you on the boards!” Joseph Frazier, President Lake Charles Little Theatre On with the Show! Over 65 musicals have played upon the many stages that LCLT has called home. We’ve sung about widows and orphans, kings and paupers, nuns and hoodlums, and the list goes on. Our season opens this year with a musical revue of some of our favorite songs and dances from our past. Directed by Randy Partin Onstage September 8 — 23, 2012. Lend Me a Tenor This night in September of 1934 is the biggest in the history of the Cleveland Grand Opera Company – world famous tenor Tito Morelli is to perform Otello, his greatest role, at the gala season opener. Saunders, the harried General Manager, hopes this will put Cleveland on the cultural map. When Morelli finally arrives-drunk--it is too late for any rehearsal. What to do?? Through a hilarious series of mishaps, mistaken identities, costume changes, and misplaced amore, this farce spins out of control onstage and off. Directed by Frank Cooper. Onstage November 3 — 18, 2012 Rory Partin & his Big Band Sound Kick off your Holiday Season with a Big Band Christmas Concert. Get ready to enjoy an evening of Big Band hits and holiday classics from this talented group of performers who have been keeping audiences tapping their feet since 2000. Rory Partin & his Big Band Sound have entertained audiences from here to San Francisco to New York to Toronto and back to Lake Charles. Excluded as a black man from the major leagues during his prime, Troy's bitterness takes its toll on his relationships with his wife and his son, who now wants his own chance to play ball. Fences won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play in 1987 and the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play in 2010. Directed by Gabriel Brown. The drama is of passing events in their lives, of everyday encounters and of the human comedy, with conversations often overlapping into a contrapuntal musical flow. In the resulting mosaic each character emerges clearly and perceptively defined, and the sum total of what they are—or wish they were—becomes a poignant, powerful call to America to recover lost values and to restore itself in its own and the world's eyes.
