How to Register for Classes

Clear all holds prior to Registration.

Schedule an advising session with your academic advisor, or work with your advisor using E-advising tools. If you do not know how to locate your academic adviser, contact the department of your major.

Access MyMoreheadState at www.moreheadstate.edu

From the TOP LINKS tab select MyMoreheadState “ My Morehead State”, which allows students to search and register for sections completely online.

If you are a current student, enter your MSU ID and password . If you are a new student who has never activated your account, choose "Activate

Account" and follow the directions.

After you have successfully logged on to MyMoreheadState:

1. Click on the WebAdvisor tab at the top of the page or the WebAdvisor icon.

2. Select Students from the menu.

3. Select Registration from the menu. Then select Register for Sections *.

4. Select Search and Register for Sections if you need to look for days and times. Select the Term plus at least one other search criterion to narrow down your choices.

5. Once you have selected your choices, Submit. The class(es) will be in your Preferred

Sections list. If you do this prior to registration, you can select Register for previously selected sections from the Registration menu when you register.

6. You are not registered for the classes until you choose the action Register for your classes. To register for the classes in your preferred list, select one action to apply for all classes or select an action for each individual class. Select PART -- Complete

Only Available to register for any open classes. If you select ALL -- Allow me to

Adjust All , you will not be registered for any classes until all classes with conflicts have been adjusted.

* You can choose Express registration from the Registration menu if you have a planned list of classes. Enter each course prefix, number, section number, and term and then submit. The classes will be in your preferred list. You are not registered until you select an action ( Register ) for all sections. Choose PART from the menu at the bottom of the page to register for any classes that are available.

If you encounter closed classes or course restrictions, contact your advisor or the department of your major. If you encounter technical difficulties, contact 606-783-2008 or 783HELP .

Students who wish to secure a seat in a particular course, or enroll in a certain number of hours within a specific semester, should register for classes on the first day of early registration. Dates for early registration for upcoming semesters can be found within the “Class Schedule” on the

Registrar’s site, http://www2.moreheadstate.edu/registrar/ .

Tips

Advising – Be sure to contact your advisor to discuss your class schedule prior to registration, even if you are sure of the classes you need to take. It never hurts to have your advisor provide confirmation!

Holds – Make sure you have cleared all holds prior to attempting to register for classes. Be sure to check My Notifications in MyMoreheadState to see if you have a hold. You will not be permitted to register if you have a hold.

Navigating MyMoreheadState – Don’t use the back button on your browser to navigate from page to page. Use the navigation bar at the top of each WebAdvisor screen instead.

Synonym – A synonym is a five digit code assigned to each course. You can use this code to register for your courses in Express Registration.

Registration Date – Make sure you know your assigned registration day/ time. Your registration day/ time is determined by the number of credits you have completed and does not include credits in which you are currently enrolled. Once early registration has ended, you may register at any time thereafter. Remember, registering early is the key to getting the classes you want.
