Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2014 .
To Our Valued Stakeholders
O
ver the past 30 years, Marriott Vacations Worldwide has earned distinction as a global leader in vacation
ownership. We have been recognized for our extraordinary performance, from superior financial results
and innovative solutions to admired customer service and world class associate engagement.
It is our associates who have created our wonderful company, and it is they who have distinguished us. Our
associates exemplify the core values that define us … caring service to one another and our communities,
integrity, responsibility and excellence in all we do.
So, we are, first and foremost, dedicated to the well-being of our associates. We are committed to helping our
associates live healthy, happy and fulfilling lives, by offering wellness programs and associate appreciation
events and celebrations. We provide our associates extensive learning resources, including discipline-specific
training and leadership development programs. Today, 64% of our management openings are filled with current
associates and many began in hourly positions. In 2014, Aon Hewitt recognized Marriott Vacations Worldwide as
a Best Employer in the U.S., France, Spain, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates. This recognition reassures us
that we’re doing a good job for our associates, and it motivates us to continue to earn their loyalty. Our associates
radiate a natural and genuine dedication to serving others and environmental stewardship.
Throughout our 30-year history, our associates, Owners, and guests have been passionate supporters of
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. In 2014, our associates led fundraising activities, ranging from softball
tournaments and bake sales to a long-standing charity golf tournament that altogether contributed more than
$1 million to children’s hospitals in their local communities.
We have become proud supporters of the On Course Foundation, which provides socialization, rehabilitation and
vocational golf programs for wounded Service-members.
Associates at our resorts maintain active calendars of “Spirit to Serve” activities, such as food drives to support
Feeding America partners, toy drives, beach clean-ups, and other endeavors that enable them to give back to
their local communities where the greatest needs exist.
In 2012, we became Clean the World Foundation’s first timeshare partner. Through this
Foundation, we collect used bars of soap and bottled amenities from our resorts to be
recycled and distributed as new bars of soap and hygiene kits to communities around the
world that lack access to these essential items.
As a company, we are committed to sustaining our environment through responsible
development and resort management. We are proud to partner with Audubon International to
assure our resorts are maximizing environmental best practice standards.
These programs are a tribute to our associates whose care, compassion and responsibility
set Marriott Vacations Worldwide apart. We believe it is imperative that “we always do the
right thing.”
We are excited to share our corporate social responsibility report with you which showcases
our associates and their extraordinary dedication to serving others. We look forward to
the future and the important business of caring, investing in our people, and serving our
communities and our environment.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals was
founded in 1983 and since then has raised more
than $5 billion for 170 children’s hospitals across
the United States and Canada. The children’s
hospitals are able to use the money raised where
it is needed most. These donations have gone to
support research and training, purchase equipment
and pay for uncompensated care, all to save and
improve the lives of as many children as possible.
In 1983, as part of Marriott International, we
began our relationship with Children’s Miracle
Network Hospitals, and we are currently its longest
standing corporate partner. Since the inception
of this relationship, Marriott International has
raised $100 million for Children’s Miracle Network
Hospitals throughout the country. Our brands have
continued this legacy and support of Children’s
Miracle Network Hospitals since Marriott Vacations
Worldwide became an independent, public
company in 2011. Our associates, Owners and
guests raise funds through hosting large scale
events like the Caring Classic golf tournament,
conducting unique fundraising events at our resorts
and participating in the Torch Relay.
The Caring Classic
The tournament began in 1998 as the Marriott
Partner Golf Tournament, raising nearly $30,000 in
its first year. With the help of associate volunteers,
corporate partnerships and award winning golf
courses, the tournament has grown exponentially
over the years. Now known as the Marriott
Vacations Worldwide Caring Classic, the 2014
event raised a record-breaking $200,000 net
donation for Greater Orlando Children’s Miracle
Network Hospitals. This represents a cumulative
total of nearly $2 million in funds raised since
the tournament’s inception. The Caring Classic is
proud to be one of the highest-grossing, single-day
fundraising events for Children’s Miracle Network
Hospitals in Central Florida.
In continuous support of Children’s Miracle
Network Hospitals, Marriott Vacations Worldwide’s
corporate headquarters hosts a golf tournament
in Orlando, Florida each spring. Proceeds directly
benefit pediatric and neonatal programs at the
local hospitals of Arnold Palmer Hospital for
Children, Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women &
Babies and UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.
The hospitals use these funds to purchase patient
care equipment, sponsor research, provide
diversionary activities and produce educational
materials/programs.
14
In February 2012, Marriott Vacations Worldwide
associates in Central Florida began a 5-year
campaign to raise $1 million for the essential
expansion of The Alexander Center for
Neonatology at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for
Women and Babies in Orlando. In just over
two years, Marriott Vacations Worldwide has
raised over $1 million towards its pledge to
help fund the expansion, which will make the
Winnie Palmer Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit (NICU) the largest in the country.
On February 18, 2014 Winnie Palmer Hospital
unveiled the $13 million expansion to its NICU
which included the new Marriott Vacations
Worldwide NICU wing, supported by a $1 million
commitment from Marriott Vacations Worldwide.

wounded and sick Service-members and Veterans
through golf tuition, work experience and jobs in
the golf industry. On Course began in the United
Kingdom in 2009 and was launched in the United
States in 2013. By using the game of golf, this
charity provides injured Service-members and
Veterans with the opportunity to play in the only
game with a level playing field due to the golf
handicap system.
With our experience in the golf industry and our
existing golf programs, supporting On Course
Foundation was a natural fit for Marriott Vacations
Worldwide. We became proud supporters when
the United States Foundation launched in 2013,
and have assisted through corporate financial
contributions and in-kind donations such as use of
our golf facilities and stays at our resorts.
Through the confidence the game of golf brings
injured Service-members and Veterans, the ultimate
goal of the On Course Foundation is to carry the
confidence their members enjoy on the course,
off the course through work experience roles and
full-time job opportunities within the golf industry.
We help to provide employment guidance and job
placement opportunities to these Service-members
and Veterans through our golf programs.

In 2011, our Marriott Vacation Club brand
committed to enroll all of its properties in Audubon
International’s Green Lodging Program. Audubon
International is an international conservation
and environmental education organization. The
Green Lodging Program provides third-party
verification that hotels and lodging facilities have
met environmental best practice standards and
have demonstrated a strong commitment to water
quality, water conservation, waste minimization,
resource conservation and energy efficiency.
In addition to the Green Lodging Program, Marriott
Vacation Club also participates in the Audubon
Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf, which
is an award winning education and certification
program that helps golf courses protect our
environment and preserve the natural heritage of
the game of golf. By helping people enhance the
valuable natural areas and wildlife habitats that golf
courses provide, which improves efficiency and
minimizes potentially harmful impacts of golf course
operations, the program serves as a vital resource
for golf courses. Marriott’s Grande Vista and
Marriott’s Shadow Ridge were the first two resorts
to be designated as Green Resorts by Audubon
International, and these two resorts also achieved
certification in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary
Program for Golf.
Presently all of our Marriott Vacation Club resorts
in North America and the Caribbean have been
certified as Green Resorts with Bronze, Silver,

resorts to renew the certification with a significant

Marriott Vacation Club’s Hilton Head Island resorts have adopted over 40% of Hilton Head Island’s 15 miles of
coastline and inlets through the South Carolina Adopt A Beach program. Over the past four years, these resorts
have conducted up to four beach sweeps per year. These sweeps have involved a total of 251 associates. As a
result, Marriott Vacation Club helped remove approximately 620 pounds of loose trash that washed in from the
ocean tide during peak season periods over its stretch of adopted coastline.
Toward the end of 2013 Marriott Vacation Club hosted the “We Care for
Our Coastline” event at Marriott’s Barony Beach Club which focused on
coastal preservation. The event was attended by more than 40 business
and community leaders, local officials, school groups, hospitality
partners and Marriott Vacation Club associates.

millions of people. Earth Hour’s mission is to
bring people together through a symbolic hourlong event, to galvanize people into taking action
beyond the hour and to create an interconnected
global community sharing the mutual goal of
creating a sustainable future for the planet. During
Earth Hour, resorts shut off lobby and exterior lights
and encourage Owners and guests to do the same
by providing activities such as bonfires and glow
stick parties.
”Every one of our associates around the world has a single mission every day: to make
vacation dreams come true for our customers.”
Marriott’s Ocean Pointe - Sea Turtle
Awareness Program
Marriott’s Ocean Pointe holds a weekly sea turtle
awareness class to educate families on the
endangered species in the area. Owners and
guests are educated on the various initiatives
on property that can help save turtles such as
avoiding them on the beach, collecting trash
and closing drapes. The resort also uses amber
lights because regular lights will deter turtles from
approaching the shore.
