Report Builder Tool
Last fall, we introduced our new and improved Report Builder Tool (located on Evolve under Reach Testing & Remediation
Faculty Access). Report Builder’s greatest benefit is its ease of use, allowing you to quickly and easily customize reports
and use the information to help analyze your course and/or program and prepare students to be successful on their licensure exams. Report Builder consists of three sections:
1. My Dashboard where you can access new categories of data:
• Exam Details displays exam information, including the class aggregate, with an icon denoting whether the score
is above or below the recommended level
•Mean HESI Score Comparison provides a graphical representation of the Class Average against the National
Average
•S
tudent Details by Sub-Specialty displays individual student scores of selected exams
•C
ategory Score Comparison provides a graphical representation of the Class Average against the National
Average for each category.
2. Trends and Comparisons where you can now compare multiple exams over any time frame (i.e., compare specialty
scores across cohorts or exit scores for graduating cohorts over time) and the ability to obtain graphical representation
of selected exams by Average HESI Score and By Category to name just a few
3. Grade Book where you can display and export scores for a group of students

HESI RN Case Studies
HESI RN Case Studies provide an introduction to real-world, patient situations — with critical-thinking questions to help
students learn to manage complex patient conditions and make sound clinical judgments. These questions cover nursing
care for clients with a wide range of physiological and psychosocial alterations, as well as related management, pharmacology, and nursing concepts.
In the 2011 product edition, which became available in the Fall of 2010, a new Instructor Resources folder was added.
This folder includes an Instructor Quickstart Guide, HESI Case Study Synopses providing condensed information for a
quick review of content, and an Updates page for content updates within the master course copy.
HESI RN Case Studies are available in four collections:
• Complete RN Collection 2011
• RN Medical-Surgical Collection 2011
• RN Fundamentals Collection 2011
• RN Maternity/Pediatrics Collection 2011
HESI Case Study collections can be used as:
• A teaching/learning strategy for your course — assign HESI Case Studies as homework, exams, or quizzes.
Choose to use scores from the Case Studies as a component of a student’s grade.
• A tool to develop critical thinking — assign individual HESI Case Studies to enhance critical thinking and clinical
judgment.
• A supplement to clinical experiences — use for pre- or post-clinical learning, or use to help when students miss
clinical.
• A review and remediation tool for students — ideal for reinforcement of applied concepts. Online HESI Case
Studies offer flexibility!

COMING SOON
Multimedia Item Available in HESI RN Exit Exams.
In our commitment to prepare students to be successful on NCLEX, we are excited to announce that one audio multimedia item will be available on HESI RN Exit Exams this June. The audio item will be available as a pilot in all 4 versions of
the HESI RN Exit Exams. Headphones are required (ear buds will work) and the audio must be played before students
can submit their answer. Additional multimedia test items are in development and are expected to be available as pilots
later this year.
New Content for HESI Case Studies — Fall 2011.
Each year, a third of the HESI Complete RN and PN Case Study collections are reviewed for content, medication and
asset updates. This year, alternate item format questions will be added. Also, two new HESI RN Case Study collection
matrices have been developed. One matrix will address Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) Competencies.
The competencies include QSEN’s six categories: Patient Centered Care, Teamwork and Collaboration, Evidence Based

HESI RN Case Studies will be categorized according to nursing concepts.
Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) Option for HESI Exit Exams!
A la carte CAT exams will be available in early May for ordering online in the Order Exams section of Faculty Access
page. Testing Package customers can begin ordering the CAT option for the fall semester. If you want to give your
students additional practice for the NCLEX examination, we encourage the use of both versions. We recommend giving
the HESI Exit Exam 6 weeks prior to graduation, with HESI Practice Test used earlier in the semester, which ensures that
students have covered the majority of their capstone course content. And finally, the HESI CAT exam at the “last minute”
before graduation and impending NCLEX candidacy.
Keeping it GREEN!
We are moving away from accepting faxed orders for a la carte exams effective June 1, 2011. It’s easy to order and pay
for your HESI exams online. Simply go to your Faculty Access page and click on Order Exams in the Order Management
section.

New Research for 2011.

provides Admission, Exit, Specialty, and Custom examinations that are evidence-based, allowing faculty to consistently
