City of Bristol upgrades to a tertiary treatment process with the
addition of Kruger’s ACTIFLO®
Kruger Inc., the Veolia business unit specializing in water, wastewater, and biosolids
treatment solutions for municipalities, was awarded a contract from the City of Bristol,
Connecticut to furnish an ACTIFLO® Ballasted Clarification System for its Water Pollution
Control Facility.
This installation will feature one 2x12 MGD, Kruger designed treatment system with controls, process equipment
and motor control equipment. The tertiary wastewater treatment system will effectively treat the wastewater to
reduce the Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and remove phosphorus to meet and exceed the required regulatory
guidelines.
®
This ACTIFLO system, expected to be fully operational in the spring of 2017, will be constructed as part of Bristol’s
Water Pollution Control Division’s (WPCD) phosphorus removal system upgrade. The WPCD provides sanitary
sewer collection and treatment services to approximately 90% of Bristol’s populated area. The compact footprint,
®
high degree of operational flexibility and cost efficient maintenance of ACTIFLO Turbo will give the City of Bristol a
superior process technology that can meet the evolving environmental standards for years to come.
