AEROSPACE MAINTENANCE
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This program is designed to
prepare students for high paying
jobs as aircraft maintenance
technicians and support
personnel. Students receive
training in aircraft painting, sheet
metal, electricity, nondestructive
testing, welding, wood and fabric
work, composite structures,
landing gear repair, and aircraft
taxiing. Certified by the Federal
Aviation Administration, the
program strictly adheres to FAA
guidelines. The program provides
training in an area identified as a
demand occupation for both
southwest Oklahoma as well as
the state.
CERTIFICATIONS/EMPLOYMENT
After successful completion of the
aviation and aerospace technology
program, students are prepared to
take the FAA national licensure
exams. Students are eligible to take
the Airframe & Powerplant license.
Employment opportunities are
exceptional in both the private sector
and in government service.

COLLEGE CREDIT-CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT
Students can receive up to 31 credit hours towards an Associate of Applied Science in
aviation through our cooperative alliance with Western Oklahoma State College.
Upon completion of the SWTC aerospace maintenance technology program, students who
choose to further their education will need approximately 33 more college hours to complete
an Associate of Applied Science degree.
FINANCIAL AID
To qualify for financial aid, students will need to complete a Free Application for Federal
Student Aid, FAFSA, form and enroll in a career major that is at least 600 hours.
Application forms may be obtained from the financial aid coordinator, Monica Cox. Please
have documentation of high school graduation or GED completion.

The FAA, Federal Aviation Administration, mandates the Aviation and Aerospace Program's
attendance policy. All time missed from class must be made up hour for hour. There are
no exceptions! Example: If a student misses a half-day, 3 hours, of class, he/she must
make arrangements with the instructor to stay after class to make up three hours of seat
time.

Eligible students may qualify to participate in an apprenticeship program with the A-TEAM,
Civilian Aircraft Maintenance, on Altus Air Force Base. Acceptance into the apprenticeship
program is based on grades, attendance and attitude. Final acceptance into the program
will be dependent upon the ability to obtain security clearance and passing a required drug
screening. During the apprenticeship, students obtain work-place experience and earn
approximately $13.00 per hour.
