Section 1 – Inclusions
In this document, the term 'Bed' includes all:
(a)
hospital beds available for admission from the Emergency Department, including:
(i)
(A)
general mixed;
(B)
medical;
(C)
surgical;
(D)
stroke;
(E)
gynaecology; and
(F)
medical assessment unit;
(ii)
paediatric acute overnight hospital beds;
(iii)
mental health acute overnight hospital beds, comprised of:
(iv)
(b)
adult acute overnight hospital beds, comprised of:
(A)
psychiatric acute;
(B)
psychiatric intensive care; and
(C)
psychiatric emergency care centre;
adult ICU/HDU/CCU hospital beds, comprised of:
(A)
general intensive care;
(B)
coronary care; and
(C)
high dependency care;
(v)
medical oncology hospital beds; and
(vi)
other acute (emergency medical unit) hospital beds;
other hospital beds, including:
(i)
(ii)
day only hospital beds, comprised of:
(A)
same day medical;
(B)
same day surgical;
(C)
extended short stay surgical (less than 24 hours); and
(D)
same day hospital beds not classified elsewhere;
other mental health hospital beds, comprised of:
(A)
psychiatric rehabilitation;

psychiatric secure;

neonatal hospital beds, comprised of:
(A)
neonate special care nursery; and
(B)
neonatal intensive care;
(x)
collaborative care (general) hospital beds; and
(xi)
sleep disorder (less than 24 hour care) hospital beds.
Section 2 – Exclusions
In this document, the term 'Bed' excludes:
(a)
all other beds not listed in Section 1, including:
(i)
hospital in the home beds, comprised of:
(A)

brain injury transitional living unit;
(F)
mental health community residential – staffed 24 hours;
(G)
mental health community residential – staffed less than 24 hours;
(H)
drug and alcohol community residential;

intermittent transitional care (in hospital);
