1 TRANSFER GUIDE
Transfer of Credit
If you have attended an in-state or out-of-state institution other
than a N.C. community college, please visit the Transfer Credit
Equivalencies website to see how your coursework may transfer.
UNCW will accept a maximum of 93 semester hours of credit from
a four-year institution and 64 semester hours of credit from a twoyear institution. Credit earned at another institution with a grade of
a “C” or better is accepted by the university if the coursework is
comparable to offerings at UNCW. Please note grades below a
“C” (including a “C-“) are not transferable. For more information,
visit uncw.edu/reg/transfercredit.htm.
Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA)
The North Carolina General Assembly, the Board of Governors of
the University of North Carolina and the State Board of Community
Colleges are committed to simplifying the transfer of credits for
students, thus facilitating their educational progress as they pursue
associate or baccalaureate degrees with public post-secondary
institutions in N.C. The CAA is a statewide agreement governing
the transfer of credits between N.C. community colleges and state
public universities. Its objective is to facilitate the smooth transfer
of students, providing certain assurances to the transferring student
by identifying community college courses that are appropriate for
transfer as electives and specifying courses that satisfy pre-major
and general education requirements.
* Please note the CAA has been recently revised with a transitional period. For the most up-to-date information visit northcarolina.edu
and search Comprehensive Articulation Agreement.
