Colorado State Master Gardener Coordinator
Location TBD
Position is 12-month, part-time (20 hours/week) and temporary, with funding
guaranteed through June 30, 2016. Job responsibilities will entail coordination of the Colorado
Master Gardener (CMG) Program and Colorado Gardener Certificate (CGC) program. This
position will report directly to the Vice President for Engagement and Director of Extension, Dr.
Lou Swanson. The location of this position will be determined once a successful candidate is
identified.

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide leadership, guidance and direction for the Colorado Master Gardener (CMG) Program and
Colorado Gardener Certificate (CGC) program. To work cooperatively with local and university Extension to determine needs and
provide appropriate support, facilitation and linkages to university resources.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RELATIONSHIPS: The office for this position will be determined based on who is hired. The
individual is a local representative of Colorado State University. The successful candidate will:
•
Provide statewide leadership to the Colorado Master Gardener (CMG) program and serve as a resource to County Extension
personnel via coordination and effective communication.
•
Work with agents and/or program coordinators statewide, in all counties/regions having a CMG program.
•
Coordinate the schedule and annual training for the CMG and Colorado Gardener Certificate (CGC) programs, including updating
necessary paperwork.
•
Assist in hosting/coordinating trainings for county agents on volunteer management and program management.
•
Manage and update Master Gardener program materials and administrative portals.
•
Manage the Master Gardener Program budget.
•
Teach Master Gardener and consumer horticulture classes as needed.
•
Attend state and national Master Gardener conferences and serve on appropriate committees to engage with national Extension
Master Gardener coordinators.
•
Facilitate meetings and discussion with statewide CMG Advisory Committee.
•
Coordinate training for Extension agents to enhance technical knowledge and understanding of residential/consumer horticulture
and support the Master Gardener Program.
•
Acquire extramural funding via grant writing to support, develop and enhance the consumer horticulture and CMG programs.
•
Participate in service roles in Extension.
•
Collaborate with faculty in campus departments to administer the CMG and CGC programs.
•
Assure compliance with civil rights and affirmative action policies including reaching out to underserved and under-represented
audiences.
•
Provide leadership and assistance with other activities as assigned.
•
Participate in professional development opportunities as appropriate or required by the position.
SALARY: Salary is commensurate with education and experience; maximum $32,000.
