Formal Works Cited for Grades 7 and 8 All research papers need to include a list of works cited. They include books, Web pages and other online information, magazines, newspapers, personal interviews, videotapes, DVD's and TV programs. Citing the source of the information gives credit to that source and demonstrates respect for intellectual property rights. In addition, a researcher who has kept track of sources can return to them as needed. By publishing the works cited with the work the researcher also guides other researchers who use his/her work to the source of information. The following guidelines are based on the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, 5th edition. Double space the entire page and indent the second line of each entry. BOOKS Author. Title.
