1. Social Studies (n) – examining what life & society is/was like
2. caption (n) – box or sentence that gives information about a
visual (picture, graph, or map)
3. primary source (n) - a firsthand or eyewitness account of an
event (journal/diary, letter, newspaper article, speech,
photograph, painting)
4. secondary source (n) - something based on research of an event
(textbook, encyclopedia)
5. objectively (adj) – not being influenced by personal feelings or
opinions when looking at facts; unbiased
6. subjectively (adj) – based on or influenced by personal feelings
or opinions; biased
7. affect (v) – change or impact
8. cause (n) – why something happens
9. effect (n) – outcome or result
10. evaluate (v) – determine significance, worth or quality
11. summarize (v) – using your own words to restate the main idea
& important points
