Student Life - Where You Belong
We organize class visits to the Royal Ontario Museum and
the Science Centre, as well as an outdoor education centre.
Students in the ski club travel to Mount Tremblant for five days
in February; students enrolled in music experience Montreal
and Chicago. Excursions also include local weekend camps
to the Kawartha Lakes and Mono Cliffs. Last year, our I.B.
students travelled to Italy.
Vaughan Road Academy
We offer a large number of clubs, including debate, drama,
writing, model parliament, United Nations, guitar, art, stage crew, theatre productions, mural committee and African dance.
Our mural committee, led by a teacher who is a professional architect, completed a mural at St.
Michael’s Hospital.

Testing Service - We offer confidential tests to help you make realistic educational and career decisions;
our counselor will help you interpret your test results. Goals are also influenced by perseverance,
effort, ambition and drive! Practice college placement tests are available to senior students.
Tutoring - Peer tutoring is available for all students in most subject areas. Make arrangements through
our student services department.
Special Services - We help you access the
services you need, including social workers,
psychologists, attendance counselling, public
health, as well as educational assessment.
We help with referrals to those services, in
consultation with your parents.
The Vaughan Road Academy Difference
We are described as a “home away from
home.” We offer you tremendous opportunities
to succeed. Our small environment of 800
students gives you a huge number of clubs
and sports. We are often compared to a private
school due to the success of our students and
the quality of our programs. Our school diversity
is incredible with local students mixing well with
students from across Toronto.
You and your parents will know exactly how
you are progressing. Our communication is
fantastic, from monthly reports and meetings
with teachers and parents to calls to work with
coaches and directors.
We are not a semester school and our teachers
are available to you when you need them. Our
success rate tells the story. Out of 108 graduates last year, 77 received Ontario scholarships;
Thirteen students received university scholarships with four being out of the country.
