MBA and Master level students. They can choose one or two modules for the exchange. Students should have at least 1 year of work experience. US citizens are accepted to participate with special agreement. One module consists of 7 weeks of classes and exams. Orientation will take place 3-5 days prior to the beginning of classes. Please note that attendance to the orientation is mandatory. Fall term 2013 Mandatory Orientation: August 15 and 16 Module I: August 19 – October 12 (including finals) Module II: October 21 – December 20 (including finals) Spring term 2014 Mandatory Orientation: January 13 and 14 Module III: January 15 – March 8 (including finals) Module IV: March 24 – May 10 (including finals) - MBA graduation will take place on May 18, 2014 Class profile - About 290 MBA students per class (approximately 30 % international); with an average of 5.3 years work experience; age range 23 – 43 years, 73 % are male and 27 % are female students; 31 % of the students have partners. Class format: Case studies, team projects, readings, some lectures. Attendance: Mandatory! If students have more than two unexcused absences, their grade may be affected. Class participation: Mandatory! This factors heavily into the grading scheme. Grading: Based on class participation, team projects, case analyses, oral reports, business plans, and papers. Course load: 3 to 4 courses and 4.5 credits per module is the minimum requirement. No more than 5 courses per mod. Exams: Class projects, case analyses, take-home exams, term papers, and presentations. The semester is divided into two modules. The average course load per semester is 8 courses or 12 credits and counted as 1.5 course credit = 20 contact hours. Class participation is a principal component of all courses in the UNC Kenan-Flagler MBA Program, although the degree to which it affects individual grades varies from course to course and by instructor to instructor. As expected, attendance is required and can affect a student's final grade in that class. Grades in the MBA Program: H = High Pass; P = Pass; L = Low Pass; F = Fail Student’s academic performance is evaluated at the end of each module to determine eligibility status. Academic ineligibility results if a student earns a failing grade (F) in any course, or if a student earns a low pass (L) in 25% or more of their classes during a given module. Exchange Students are required to meet the same academic eligibility standards. Exchange students failing to meet eligibility requirements during their studies at UNC Kenan-Flagler, will have their home institution formally notified of their academic standing. Release of Grades: Grade reports will be available online at ‘Connect Carolina’ to all current exchange students. Transcript and copy will be couriered to their home school within six to eight weeks of the completion of the exchange program. If an official transcript is needed, student can request these directly from the UNC Registrar’s Office. The Honor Code: It shall be the responsibility of every student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to obey and support the enforcement of the Honor Code. The Honor Code prohibits lying, cheating, or stealing when these actions involve academic processes or university, student, or academic personnel acting in an official capacity. Monthly job search discussions: CMC senior staff members will meet with Exchange students in a group setting once/month to discuss the US job search and field questions. One-hour resume review from the Business Communication Center. Participation in student career clubs, including events and company visits. The following activities are closed to visiting exchange students: • Access to CMC Connect, the on-campus recruiting system • Participation in campus interviews • Review of or availability to apply for job postings through Kenan-Flagler’s CMC Connect system • Attendance at CMC Networking Forum There are about 10 rooms available on campus in 1101 Mason Farm Rd. Chapel Hill. These are furnished 2 bedroom apartments, only a short 10-minute walk from the business school campus.
