TOM CURL MEDIA LAB - How to get your files: Logged into a windows computer in the lab: - - Option 1: o Open ‘Computer’ and open the ‘R:’ drive (aka – the tomcurl folder) or…Option 2: o If the R: drive (aka – the tomcurl folder) does not show up, double click the ‘mapRDrive.bat’ from the desktop. or…Option 3: o Open ‘Computer’ o Type in the address bar: \\alecfiles.continuum.tamu.edu\tomcurl o Double click on the ‘mapRDrive.bat’ o Now you should have an R: drive (aka – the tomcurl folder) Logged into a mac computer in the lab: - Option 4: o Click ‘Go’ and then ‘Connect to Server’ o Type ‘smb://alecfiles.tamu.edu/tomcurl’ and click connect. o You should be prompted for your username and password… Use your netid for your username (for example: sross16@auth.tamu.edu) Use the password you use with your netid For the domain use ‘AUTH.TAMU.EDU’ From OAL computers: - From a windows OAL computer, use the option 3 above. From a mac OAL computer, use option 4 above. From your home computer …or your friend’s computer …or a computer other than OAL/Tom Curl/ALEC Lab… - - On windows: o Open ‘Computer’ o Type in the address bar: \\alecfiles.tamu.edu\tomcurl o You should be prompted for your username and password: Use the following form for your username: netid@auth.tamu.edu Note: put in your actual netid (for example: sross16@auth.tamu.edu) Use the password you use for your netid o You can also follow the instructions on the next page to map an R: drive (aka – the tomcurl folder). On Mac, use option 4 above To connect your windows computer to the Tom Curl Media Lab R: Drive You can use the windows tool for mapping network drives. Please follow these instructions if you choose this path: Open ‘Computer’ or ‘My Computer’ and click the ‘Map network drive’ button: Choose the “R:” drive and in the folder text field, type in ‘\\alecfiles.tamu.edu\tomcurl’. Also check the checkbox for ‘connect using different credentials’. You will be prompted to enter your username and password. Be sure to use the following form for your username: netid@auth.tamu.edu (use your netid…for example: sross16@auth.tamu.edu)
