MyBC Quick Reference Guide June 2013 MyBC…What is it? MyBC.bridgewater.edu Navigation and Terms WebParts and Tabs When you log into MyBC, you will be presented with your landing page. This page consists of WebParts that resemble boxes of information. These WebParts contain information that changes daily and is unique to you. Some WebParts contain multiple boxes that are overlay information. These boxes are called tabbed containers. Click on the tab headings to reveal information in these areas. The active tab will be crimson. Inactive tabs are gold. Refresh and Help icons MyBC is a website that brings together information and access related to BC, all in one place, with a single login. Features include WebAdvisor self-service, email, calendar, Moodle, office contact information and more. MyBC is accessible only by those with a BC username and password. The site is intended to help you find the information you need without having to navigate too many different sites. How do I access it? MyBC can be accessed anywhere by any device through a web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox or Safari). Click the link in the top middle, near the weather, to enter your username and password. You will be prompted to do this each time your password changes. When clicked, the refresh icon will update information within the selected WebPart instantly. The Help icon displays further information about a specific area of the portal. Home You can return to your home page by clicking the MyBC in the top left corner from anywhere in the portal. Information Tabs The top of MyBC lists tabs that contain information about life at BC. Clicking the tabs and exploring the dropdown menus across the top present you with student, faculty and staff resources, campus office location and contacts, forms and more. Can’t find what you are looking for? Try the Search box in the top right corner. MyBC FAQs This section will contain contact information for those who can update content on MyBC. Training tutorials, resources, as well as frequently asked questions, can all be found through this tab. MyBC Quick Reference Guide June 2013 What does MyBC do? My Week is an overview of all events from your email account. Click on the Academic Calendar to view semester start/end dates, as well as breaks and other academic events. Access to all Moodle courses. Clicking on the course title will take you straight to Moodle. Add links to your favorite sites for quick access or choose the Application tab to access tools such as Colleague, Informer, and Recruiter. Targeted communications with specific audiences, as they only have relevance and interest to the small population that will see them. For example, a commencement-related announcement only seen by seniors or a brief, one-line announcement to staff. Tasks pulled from your email as well as the Colleague information system. WebAdvisor access with increased navigation, longer timeouts, multiple tabs and no cookies! The billboard displays a graphic advertisement related to a campus-wide event or announcement. These graphics are decided on and created by the office of marketing & communications. Ideas for a billboard should be submitted to the office of marketing & communications. This web part is only accessible to and viewed by faculty and staff. It provides a place for all community announcements including items for sale or giveaway and will take the place of the BCCommunity listerv. Post your message by clicking +Add a New Item. Campus Bulletin – all items that do not qualify as alerts or events, including, but not limited to, lost and found, academic project assistance requests, club and group sign-ups, ride requests, etc. Campus Events – items alerting the College community to future happenings related to the College. BC Calendar Events – this tabbed section of MyBC provides the user with campus-wide events information straight from the official College events calendar on the College’s web site.
