MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT
Program Overview
The goal of this programme is to prepare individuals for leadership, managerial and
entrepreneurial positions in almost any technical industry. The vigorous curriculum integrating
engineering, business, and law courses consists of 30 credits (10 courses).

30 credit hours of coursework – 10 courses of 3 credit hours each
Each course requires four weekends. There is a scheduled break for one weekend at the
end of the fourth weekend
Classes will be held on Saturday evenings and Sundays
Programme duration is 16 months
Each course includes a minimum of 37.5 hours of classroom and laboratory instruction
by FIU faculty
The location for the program will be at the University College of the Caribbean in
Kingston Jamaica.

The ability to apply engineering project management skills to manage an engineering
project.
The ability to apply TQM concepts, techniques, skills and tools necessary to an industrial
application.
The ability to identify a legal problem or opportunity, render a sound legal judgment and
formulate it into a business proposal.
In-depth competency in a technical/engineering field.
Program Tuition
Tuition for the MSEM program in Jamaica is $18,000 for 30 credit hours. Tuition includes:

• Technology resources from the Engineering Information Center
Application Procedure:
Individuals interested in applying for admission to the programme should submit
the following:

Request official transcripts of all earned college or university credits to be sent from the
institution(s) in a sealed envelope to FIU. Unsealed or opened copies submitted directly by
applicants will not be accepted. Photocopied or notarized copies of transcripts are not
acceptable.
Submit a certified copy of your degree (certification must be authorized by a Justice of the Peace,
Minister of Religion, or Attorney-at-law; all certified documents must bear the official
stamp/seal of the certifier). The degree must be a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a
closely related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of a “B” average in upper level
work (a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a scale of 4.00) OR a graduate degree from an accredited
institution. (Please see Note No. 4).
Submit a resume or curriculum vitae. It must include education, training, and employment
history, practical and research experience (such as projects and publications), skills and other
pertinent information.
Submit a statement of purpose in which you must clearly state your intended engineering track.

Omission of any one of these items will delay the processing of the application.
Admission decisions are made solely by FIU.
All admission requirements must be met before a student is fully admitted to the program.
An applicant whose GPA does not meet the minimum GPA requirement may be considered for
conditional admission.

application fee.
