Special Olympics Charity Derby
20th Annual
Michigan Ontario Muskie Club Charity Derby
Well, it’s that time of the year and we are preparing for the 20th Annual Special Olympics
Derby out of Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. Last year you participated in this Great event and I’m
sending you this letter to see if you are still aboard for this year.
The 20th Annual Michigan Ontario Muskie Club Charity Derby, which will benefit the Harper
Woods-Grosse Pointe Chapters of the Michigan Special Olympics, will be held on Wednesday
June 24, 2015 at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club. This event is a joint effort of the Michigan
Ontario Muskie Club, Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, Detroit Yacht Club and the Detroit Athletic
Club.
We will have all the great raffles as prior years along with the ever popular Golden Rod Call-in
and the Call-in for Detroit Tiger Tickets. After fishing we will have the Awards presentation
along with the buffet dinner. If you know someone that wants to attend the dinner only; tickets
are $55 a person for a reservation.
Tuesday night we will have a Captains Bar-B-Q sponsored by a local business & Dragon Mead
Beer for the Captains that bring their boat Tuesday night. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
We need to give Alex Turner (GPYC Harbor Master) a heads up on who to expect. We also
need a head count for the Captain’s dinner.
We have more sponsors available than we have Captains and boats. So if you know a
Captain that would like to participate that has not participated in the past, please have
them contact me.
The cost is as follows:
Bring your own boat and equipment, 6 people, $700.00 per boat
Sponsor a boat with Captain, mate, equipment, 4 guests, for $800.00 per boat
(Additional anglers - $125.00 per adult, 18 & under $60.00, 12 and under free)
Dinner only - $55.00 per person
Please RSVP and send in the enclosed entry form before May 27th.
Thanks,
Eric Woodhouse and Ed Pascua
For additional information please visit us on the web at www.lscmomc.com or contact us at the following:

eligible for registration.
1.3Muskies must be caught within the boundaries of the following area: St. Clair River from Blue Water Bridge, Lake St. Clair
and the Detroit River to the mouth of Lake Erie.
1.4The MOMC season for the catching and registering of Muskie shall begin each year on the opening day of the legal Muskie
season set by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for Lake St. Clair and will end on the last day of October in
that same year.
SECTION II – REGISTERING OF MUSKIE
2.1
A MOMC member shall not register and harvest, more than one (1) Muskie per day.
2.1.1In the event a registered Muskie(s) is successfully released, the MOMC member who registered said Muskie(s) is permitted
to register additional Muskie(s) that day.
2.2During a monthly MOMC tournament, all Muskie being registered shall have been caught only on the days scheduled for
that MOMC tournament, and registered at MOMC Tournament Headquarters between the hours scheduled for each event.
Muskie entered shall be weighed and registered by the Weigh master, duly appointed by the MOMC Board of Directors.
MOMC monthly tournament Muskies shall not be registered by another MOMC Weigh-in-Station for any purpose.
2.2.1IF a Muskie is caught during scheduled fishing hours, while MOMC Tournament Headquarters are closed, it is the members’
responsibility to contact a MOMC Board of Director, the Weigh master or a Derby committee member, regarding the Muskie
they wish to register. It is their responsibility to have the Muskie present during the next opening HOUR at Tournament
Headquarters, for official measurements.
2.2.2When MOMC Tournament Headquarters are closed, during scheduled tournament fishing hours, a current MOMC Board of
Director or Derby Committee member IS permitted to perform Weigh master duties for a MOMC member in good standing,
at their discretion. This is done as a courtesy, in an effort to help those releasing their Muskie for another day. A Board of
Director is NOT allowed to register his/her own Muskie, without another MOMC Board of Director present, who is NOT
fishing on their team.
2.3Except during MOMC monthly tournaments, Muskie may be submitted for registration at any MOMC Authorized Weigh-In
Station. Any Muskie which exceeds thirty (30) pounds must either be weighed at two and ONLY two weigh stations, -OR- at

of any MOMC Board of Director, for the entire MOMC fishing season.
2.4Except during MOMC monthly tournaments, any Muskie caught by a Weigh-in Station owner, employee, or any member of
their families, may not be registered at that Weigh-in Station. Unless a current Board of Director is present as a witness.
2.5All Muskie submitted for registration must be held freely in such manner that the mouth faces the ground, while the tail is
pointed skyward prior to the weighing and measuring.
2.6Current MOMC Directors reserve the right to scrutinize a Muskie for potential violations in any manner deemed necessary to
authenticate the true weight, length, or girth of the Muskie.

Michigan Ontario Muskie Club
True Trophy Release Program
In 1994, the MOMC Board of Directors, in an effort to provide more information to MOMC
members, instituted the "True Trophy Release Program." This program tabulates information
on muskies entered, to help determine the number of muskies released by MOMC members.
All MOMC members are encouraged to participate, with honest, accurate information.
Rules for this program are simple.
a) Any muskie over 28 pounds, successfully released, may be submitted.
b) MOMC members must submit entry within 15 days of the release.
Entry forms may be copied from the directory or use a page with the necessary info clearly
written. MOMC recognition will be given in the yearbook.
The first year of the program brought in some sixty muskies of "True Trophy" size, among 30
MOMC members which contributed to the program. The muskie entered here are a good
reflection of the number of serious MOMC members who practice Catch and Release.
This year, we would like to invite you to share your "fish tales" on the new MOMC facebook
page. Just go to facebook and type in, "Michigan Ontario Muskie CLUB" and tell us about your
great day. Thanks to all the members who participated this past year. Your contribution towards
this directory is greatly appreciated by the MOMC Board of Directors and the anglers which
learn from your accounts.
Note: You may have noticed some of the TTR fish registered, were larger than some of the
Monthly Derby muskies registered. Many of our members fish for first place only. The important
thing to remember, is the TTR Program is intended for informational purposes only, so the
information will be published in chronological order. Not weight, length, girth, etc.
Good Luck to all MOMC Muskie Fishermen!
