In this course, a continuation of Latin 101, you will continue to learn the essentials of Latin grammar, and
develop a basic Latin vocabulary, building towards a reading knowledge of Latin.
Required Textbook

Company, 2010).
Recommended (i.e., we will not be covering this material during class time, but you may work on it on your

The final examination will cover all the material in Chapters 16 through 24 of the textbook. It is very important,
therefore, that you keep up with the preparation required for each class (weekly homework schedules will be
posted on the moodle), and that you make an extra effort outside of class to learn the grammar and vocabulary
contained in each chapter. To this end, there will be daily short quizzes in class, concentrating on the material
from the previous day. The lowest five of these will be dropped, and the remaining quizzes will be averaged to
form 10% of your final mark. Each Friday, there will be a test, concentrating on the material covered that week;
these will be averaged to form 40% of your final mark (I will drop your lowest test). There will be no
opportunities to “make-up” missed quizzes or tests. The final examination (2 hrs in length) has been
tentatively scheduled by the University for Thursday, August 16 at 11:30 a.m.
A moodle (course website) has been set up for this class, where you will find a fuller version of the
syllabus, weekly homework assignments, and sample quizzes and tests.
Evaluation will be calculated and expressed in percentages throughout the course. Grades will be assigned to
the final marks, expressed in percentages, as follows:
