 Summer 2014 CPA Starter Program Schedule All requests for course approval must be sent to Mr. Julius Wilson at wilsonj@dcccd.edu. Do not send any requests to Professor Michael Joseph Tydlaska. When you are requesting a course or courses to Mr. Wilson always include your full legal name and DCCCCD student identification number in each email and/or all replies. A student will not be approved for any course if he or she does not meet the prerequisites. Also all students are required to have official transcripts on file at MVC. Transcripts should be received by Mr. Wilson a minimum of 90 days before the start of any semester. An official transcript is a transcript that is sent directly from the college you attended to the following address: Mountain View College Attn: Julius Wilson CPA Starter Program 4849 West Illinois Avenue Dallas, TX 75211 You the student cannot mail or hand-­‐deliver the transcript(s) as this violates accreditation standards, independence and verification. You will not be permitted to register for any course if MVC does not have official transcripts from ALL colleges you attended. You do not decide on what transcripts must be sent to MVC. If you have attended nine colleges you must request a transcript from each of the nine colleges to be sent directly to Mr. Julius Wilson at MVC. Do not send the transcripts to the admissions office as transcripts sent directly to admissions are not evaluated for at least six months. If a course is not listed in the May Semester 2014, Summer I 2014 Semester and/or Summer II 2014 Semester it is not being offered. Do not request any courses that are not on the schedule. The summer schedule is very limited. Please read the dates of the courses. A May Semester 2014 course is a course that starts in May it does not necessarily end in May. The course could end in the Summer I Semester and/or Summer II Semester. A Summer I course is a course that begins sometime in the Summer I Semester and the ending date is not relevant. ACNT 1335 – Accounting Ethics – May Semester 2014 Course

ACNT 1335 is an upper division business related course as defined by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA). A student may
not receive credit for both ACNT 1335 and ACNT 1340. ACNT 1335 is an approved 3-semester credit hour course to satisfy the mandatory
accounting ethics requirement set fourth by the TSBPA.
Prerequisite: ACNT 1372 at the minimum or an upper division accounting course. ACCT 2301 and/or ACCT 2302 do not
satisfy the prerequisite to enroll in ACNT 1335. Do not request the course if you have not satisfied the required academic
credit.
ACNT 1335 is restricted to students who possess a Bachelors degree or higher. The student is required to be enrolled in
ATC.ACCT.10 or ATC.ACCT.13 Certificate Plan.

or her final average if he or she arrives to class fifteen minutes after the start of class, departs early from class or is absent
from class. There will be one freebie. Any student who has two infractions will be deducted five points from his or her final
average. Any student who has three infractions will be deducted ten points from his or her final average. Any student who
has four or more infractions for arriving late, departing early or being absent will fail the course with an automatic ‘F’. It is
imperative that you are in attendance for the required class time. It is irrelevant if you are required to work late because of
your job. You must accept the responsibility and the requirements to sit for the Uniform CPA Exam in the State of Texas.
Therefore you need to make arrangements with your supervisor by informing him or her of the requirements for the course.

Note A: Each student is required to have the textbooks for the course. The first required textbook is ‘Business
Communication: Polishing Your Professional Presence Plus My BCommLab’, second edition by Shwom and Synder.
The publisher is Pearson. The ISBN is 978-0-1330-98808. You are not permitted to use the first edition. You are required
to have the BCommLab Access code that is packaged with the textbook if purchased new at Mountain View College
Bookstore. The failure to not have the access code will result in an automatic ‘F’ in the course. The second required
textbook is ‘Skills for Accounting and Auditing Research: FASB Codification and eIFRS’, by Collins. The publisher
is Cambridge Publishers. The ISBN is 978-1-61853-074-5. The textbooks may come in an electronic format known as an ebook. I do not support the utilization of the e-book.
Note B: The proctored comprehensive final exam is required. The exam will be administered on August 7, 2014 from 6:00
PM to 9:00 PM. I will inform the class the room location. The proctored comprehensive final exam can only be taken at
Mountain View College. A student will not be approved to take the exam at any other location. The exam is closed textbook
and notes are not permitted.

BMGT 1391 Money and Capital Markets – Summer II Semester 2014 Course

BMGT 1391 is an upper division business related course as defined by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy (TSBPA). Money and
Capital Markets falls under the Finance discipline. A student will not receive qualifying credit by the TSBPA if the student has
received academic credit for any prior course such as Financial Markets and Institutions.
Prerequisite: ACNT 1372 (Foundations of Accounting Operations and Disclosure) or an upper division accounting course
or another finance course. Do not request the course if you have not satisfied the required academic credit.
BMGT 1391 is restricted to students who possess a Bachelors degree or higher. The student is required to be enrolled in
ATC.ACCT.10 or ATC.ACCT.13 Certificate Plan.
You must send a request to enroll in the course to Mr. Julius Wilson at wilsonj@dcccd.edu. You must state your full legal
name and DCCCD student identification number, not your social security number. Always include your full legal name and
DCCCD student identification number in all emails including any replies.

If you do purchase the first edition you do this at your own risk. There will not be any reconciliation between the required
second edition and the first edition. There will not be any posting of new material that deviates from the second edition and
first edition. There is no support from the faculty member for the utilization of an electronic textbook known as an e-book.
