French Summer Assignment Packet 2013
Assignment: Your summer practice will focus on vocabulary and verb conjugations with a
few grammar structures added in. You will need to complete the following assignments in
Conjuguemos over the summer and either SEND ME YOUR SCORE or PRINT YOUR
RESULTS AND TURN IN THE PAPER.
You need to do each of the following activities until you can do 40 words in 5 minutes with
80% accuracy:
 Chapter 1 Vocabulary
 Chapter 2 Vocabulary
 Chapter 3 Vocabulary
 Chapter 4 Vocabulary
 Chapter 5 Vocabulary

Chapter 6 Vocabulary *Not mandatory, but you can do it to get a head start on next year!
 Les nombres
 Months, Seasons, Days, Weather
 Opinions
 The, This, and A activity
 Telling Time
 Verb Translation Chapters 1-6 (verbs from Ch 6 are also included, so you can
get a head start!)
You need to do the following verb conjugation activity until you can do 80 words in 5
minutes with 80% accuracy. You must include all the verbs in the final score that you send
me. However, you can practice the verbs individually as well as all together.
 Verb Review Chapters 1-5
You will also need to complete the Color grammar practice sheet.

We will have a timed vocabulary production and verb conjugation test the 2nd week of
school. The test will count 70% and the summer assignment will count 30%. All parts of
the summer assignment are due by the 3rd day of class in August.

Remember there are 4 ways to say THE in French
 Le- masculine nouns
 La- feminine nouns
 L’- singular nouns that start with a vowel
 Les- plural nouns
How to say A/SOME in French
 Un- masculine nouns
 Une-feminine nouns
 Des- plural nouns
There are 4 ways to say THIS/THESE in French
 Ce- masculine nouns
 Cet- masculine nouns that start with a vowel
 Cette-feminine nouns
 Ces- plural nouns
Colors go after the noun and must agree with the noun.
 Colors that end in e have 2 forms, singular and plural
o Rouge, rouges
o Jaune, jaunes
o Rose, roses
 Colors that don’t end in e have 4 forms, masculine singular and plural and feminine
singular and plural:
o Masculine singular- vert
o Masculine plural- verts
o Feminine singular- verte
o Feminine plural- vertes
 Some colors have spelling exceptions
o The feminine form of white-blanche
o The feminine for of purple- violette
o The masculine plural form of gray-gris
o Orange and brown don’t change forms
