ΣτART – Youth Culture Initiatives in Greece
Open call for cultural managers
“stART” is a training and fellowship program for Greek graduates seeking an
advanced level of qualification in international cultural management. The
program supports up-and-coming cultural managers who wish to start youth
culture initiatives in their local communities. The aim of stART is to promote
individual initiative among young people in Europe.
stART is a program of the Robert Bosch Stiftung conducted in cooperation
with the Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki and the Bundesvereinigung
Soziokultureller Zentren e.V. (German Network of Community Art Centres).
What does stART offer?
By applying to stART you will have the opportunity to be one, out of up to 30
fellows travelling to Germany in fall 2015 in order to take part in a:
- 2 week training program in Berlin and Stuttgart, offering capacity building
in project management, public relations and fundraising
- 4 week job shadowing, offering first hand insight into the work of
Community Art Centres and cultural initiatives in Germany, including the
possibility of organizing a small scale youth culture project with a budget of
up to Euro 1500 being provided
Having successfully completed the capacity building program you are eligible
to apply for one, out of 12, half-year fellowships, starting December 2015,

which will offer you the opportunity to:
- Start your own youth cultural initiative in Greece, with a project budget of
up to Euro 10 000 being provided, which shall be supplemented by further
funds raised by yourself
- Take part in the closing festival and present your project to a broad public
and possible future sponsors
All stART fellows will receive a monthly subsistence of Euro 800. In addition,
accommodation in Germany will be provided through the program. The
program language is English.

How can I apply to stART?
1. Please check if your profile meets the following criteria:
- Permanently residing in Greece
- Graduate in the area of arts and cultural studies OR graduate of another
area with work experience in the cultural field
- Junior management experience with cultural or youth initiatives through
volunteering or professional work
- Good command of English
2. Please review if your (idea for a) youth culture initiative is geared towards:
- Motivating existing potential in your cultural area
- Actively involving young people in the process
- Connecting with local cultural institutions

What are the next steps?
After having received your application, a selection committee composed of
representatives from each of the partner organizations of stART will review
and grade it according to the following selection criteria:
- Completeness of application
- Statement of Motivation
- Originality and maturity of proposed youth culture initiative
Successful applicants will receive an invitation to an interview which will take
place between July 20th and July 21st at the Goethe-Institut in Thessaloniki.
Travel expenses will be reimbursed up to Euro 100.

Robert Bosch Stiftung
The Robert Bosch Stiftung is one of the major German foundations associated
with a private company. It holds 92 percent of the share capital of Robert
Bosch GmbH. Established in 1964, it represents the philanthropic endeavors
of Robert Bosch (1861–1942), focussing on the fields of science, health,
international relations, education, society, and culture. Between 1964 and
2014, the Foundation has made available 1.3 billion Euros for projects. In
2014, approximately 68 million Euros were spent on project funding.
Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki
The Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki conveys a comprehensive image of
Germany by providing information about cultural, social and political life in
Germany. Since 1955 it promotes international cultural cooperation by
organising a broad variety of events. The Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki offers
workshops and training seminars for teachers of German as a second
language. Learning about German life and culture is an integral part of the
language courses. It also provides an extensive examination program. The
library serves as a resource for those interested in contemporary Germany
and for those interested in teaching and studying German as a foreign
language.
Bundesvereinigung Soziokultureller Zentren e.V.
The Bundesvereinigung Soziokultureller Zentren e.V. connects in Germany
around five hundred socio-cultural or community art centres in fifteen states.
Its most important tasks are the coordination and support of the centres along
with their public relations and representation in the political sphere. The
networks on the state and national levels ensure consultation, further
education, exchange and support for centres and initiatives already in
existence and in development. The The Bundesvereinigung Soziokultureller
Zentren e.V. is also active on a European level, e.g. as member of the
“European Network for Cultural Centres” (ENCC).
