University of Waterloo CEMC’s Open Courseware
The Centre for Education in Mathematics and
Computing (CEMC) is an outreach
organization housed at the University of
Waterloo.
CEMC wanted to produce free and open
online courseware for the senior high
school level, in order to:
• Provide enrichment material for high
school students
• Address the knowledge inconsistency
of students entering university
• Provide a resource for high school
teachers

University of Waterloo CEMC’s Open Courseware
The CEMC’s vision was of a single platform for
exposition, experimentation, evaluation and
enrichment.
• Past experience with Maplesoft
technologies in these areas led to a
partnership to develop such a platform
• CEMC’s Open Courseware content will go
live Q4 2014
The platform has evolved to now also be
serving undergraduate courses – currently in
use in MATH 136: Linear Algebra 1.
