Director’s News
These first few weeks of spring have been just beautiful! There are
birds singing, bees buzzing, flowers blooming…and our butterflies
are slowly beginning to flutter about as we welcome spring and all
of its surprises! Like the busy bees, we are actively putting on the
final touches of all our special events coming up this month.

JANA ALAYRA IN CONCERT HERE: Thursday, May 1st @ 9:00AM
“It’s National day of Prayer” and what better way to start off the day than
to have Jana Alayra come help us celebrate! Come one, come all for a
morning of fun worship. Everyone from the community is welcome! NO COST
Kindergarten Mexican Celebration: On Monday, May 5th Cinco de Mayo
at 11:00am in Mission Hall B. Please come join us for the festivities.
Spring Boutique: May 7th & 8th
Something special for our Moms just in time for Mother’s day! Come get to
know other MLS moms and vendors and browse their unique gifts, crafts and
clothing. The Boutique will be open from 8:30-4:00.
Mother’s Day Tea: - May 7th and 8th
This is a wonderful time for child and Mom to celebrate their
special relationship. Check with your teacher for your day and
time. We ask that siblings not attend and we are offering
childcare at the tea time for a limited number of
children. Come to the office for details and to sign up!
Family Fellowship @ The Habit: May 15th
DASH FOR HOPE: Sunday, May 18th Come join us and support Mission
within Reach charities! 10K, 5K and Kids 1K run & Family Block

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium: May 21st & 22nd
In keeping with our ocean theme this month, we will be having a visit from
the Long Beach Cabrillo Aquarium. The children love touching, watching and
learning all about the creatures that inhabit the ocean around us.
School is closed Monday, May 26th in observation of Memorial Day
Volunteer Recognition Chapel: Thurs. May 29th @ 8:30/12:30
& Fri. May 30th @ 8:30. This is a time to recognize those
parents who gave us the gift of their time and talents.
As the end of our school year draws near, here are a few
dates to jot down for June………
Open House/Family dinner: Friday, June 6th (Minimum
Day- School Closes at 3:30pm)
Last Days of School: Monday, June 16th & Tuesday, June 17th
School Carnival: Wednesday, June 18th
Summer Happenings at Mission Lutheran
Summer Camp: Begins Monday, June 30th and ends on August 8th.
3 or 6 week sessions offered - preschool through 1st grade
Raz-Ma-Tazz: July 21st - 25th (grades 1st through 8th )
Vacation Bible School: (VBS): August 11th - 15th (ages 4 through 4th grade)
Sign-up sheets are available for all programs in the school office.
We want to THANK our families for their generous giving and wonderful
support of our fundraisers this year. The result can be seen all throughout
each classroom, out in the playground, in our gardens and even on our
children! (t-shirts). We feel so blessed that we were able to see all these
projects enjoyed by our children now and in the years ahead!
