July 2012 THIS INFORMATION IS CONFIDENTIAL UNTIL 1ST JULY 2012 Connectivity without compromise Rotel launches 12 Series Rotel is proud to announce the new 12 Series of hi-fi components. A range of performance-led, high-quality equipment, that takes the concept of entry-level audiophile quality to new heights, with improved performance, increased features, while still remaining true to the Rotel ethos and Balanced Design Concept. The Rotel 6 Series is a byword for affordable audiophile components. The range has long been the standard by which high-quality, entry-level audiophile stereo components are judged, and 2009’s Special Edition models raised the bar once again. But nothing stands still for ever. The success of Rotel’s highly regarded 15 Series, and the lessons learned in its development, has led to developments elsewhere in the 50-year old Japanese company’s product portfolio. The result of those changes is that the 6 Series has been upgraded to such a degree that a whole new name was required. The Rotel 12 Series comprises six hi-fi components. These products offer the audiophile on a budget the same level of options they have enjoyed from Rotel for decades. However thanks to a new advanced system approach, streaming options and the addition of a dedicated iOS app for system control, the Rotel 12 Series has its feet planted firmly in the future, while retaining its sense of heritage and quality of its past. Traditional hi-fi is changing, and rather than the past where the CD player would have sat atop the newsworthy list, here it’s the Rotel RT-12. The hub of the 12 Series, and a product that really brings in the ‘system’ approach of the 12 Series. Especially when it is used with the RA-11 or RA-12 amplifiers, the CD player and the Rotel Remote app for iPhone ® and iPad ®. The RT-12 is an integrated Internet Radio, FM and DAB+ tuner with 30 presets for each. The Wolfson WM8740 24/192bit DAC ensure high performance through the analogue stereo output or direct digital via coax output. The RT-12 also supports UPnP servers, allowing streaming from a computer. iPod ® and iPad control is available via the integrated wired or WiFi connector. Using the Rotel Link connector the RT-12 can control the Rotel RA-11, RA-12 and RCD-12 via the Rotel Remote app. Connectivity of the 12 Series means music can be input from an incredibly wide range of digital as well as analogue sources. Analogue sources include phono and CD, with four digital inputs and a front panel USB input allowing input from files stored on a PC or media server to Bluetooth streaming directly from an iPad, iPod, iPhone or any other MP3 player. Rotel’s amplifier performance is legendary, and the 12 Series offering comprises three two-channel integrated amplifiers. The flagship is the RA-12, which boasts the latest in audio performance for the two-channel market. The RA-12 includes both analogue and digital audio inputs. The RA-12 features a user-friendly display, and supports iPod USB and Bluetooth audio streaming. The Wolfson WM8740 24/192bit DAC provides the ultimate in audio clarity. The 60 Watts per channel RA-12 utilizes a custom Rotel toroid transformer, Rotel designed linear amplifier, hi-fi quality circuit design and audio performance components. Programmable tone controls and a “Tone Bypass” mode ensure signal path integrity and satisfaction. Rotel RA-11 offers a similar specification, but with 40 Watts per channel. The Rotel RA-10 also offers 40 Watts per channel, but is a more traditional amplifier, with no display or music streaming capability. The RCD-12 CD player provides high performance audio through both analogue and digital outputs. The Wolfson WM8740 24/192bit DAC ensures high performance and sonic integrity on the analogue output. The RCD-12 includes a slot loading CD mechanism, two-line dimmable display, multi-function IR remote controller and trigger input. iPod and iPad control is available when used in combination with the Rotel RT-12 using Rotel-Link communication. This features provides access and control using standard wired or wireless networking in the home. The RT-11 includes both FM and DAB/DAB+ Band III tuners. There are 30 available presets for both FM and DAB. FM also supports RDS using the integrated dimmable two-line display. Audio output is supplied via stereo RCA connectors, and a combination FM/DAB antenna is included. Multi-button IR remote control for power control, preset save/recall, and tuning. In keeping with Rotel’s Balanced Design Concept, attention has been paid to critical parts in the signal path to fine-tune the performance of every model in the 12 Series. The 12 Series will be available in both a sand blast silver and black finish. Availability The Rotel 12 Series will be available from July 2012.
