VERONICA ANDRADE ART 1 PERIOD 2. 2014 THE HISTORY OF STREET ART • Street Art turned into a very popular type of art. It is known all over the world. Everywhere you go you will see art in mostly all the streets. They are in street signs, buildings and sidewalks. Now street art is even found in different museums. Gallery places are collecting different type of street arts and making them part of their gallery history. It isn’t allowed to be painting in public places on the streets. Street art was a secret to most people. Everyone views street art in many ways. Some think its beautiful art in the streets while others believe it is committing a crime to be writing in public places. BANKSY • Banksy who was born in Bristol, England in the year 1974 was a street artist who has an identity that is still unknown. In 1990 Banksy began as a graffiti artist. He joined a gang called DryBreadZ Crew. The object he used the most to create art, were stencils. When he creates art works he usually goes based on political themes, critiquing war and hypocrisy. Not only does he do street art but is also known for installation artwork. People believe his artwork represented a voice for the people living in urban cities. BANKSY’S ARTWORKS FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS • This artwork is found in Boston, Massachusetts . It is called “Follow Your Dreams.” It was put out on the street in May of 2010. The meaning of this artwork is to notify that a persons dreams are cancelled. This art work is one of Banksy's most famous piece of art. RAT STENCIL • This artwork is found in all over the world. It is called “Rat Stencil.” It was found on the street in the year 2002. The rat with briefcase shows a business person. The overall art work shows that something unpleasant is about to happen. NECK FACE • Neck Face who was born in 1984 in Stockton, California is an anonymous graffiti artist. He has a lot of frightening drawings and also humorous writings. His tagging began in Sacramento California while being a junior in high school. His artwork is in many places around the world including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Miami. Neck Face is currently working and living in New York. NECK FACE´S ARTWORKS ONE GRAND GALLERY • This is an artwork of Neck Face and it was shown in One Grand Gallery. He got ideas from A Deal With The Devil. There were many concepts combined in this artwork. • This is another artwork of Neck Face. This art piece is one of Neck Face´s favorite inspirations. They are limited edition artworks. SHEPARD FAIREY Shepard was born on February 15,1970 in Charleston, South Carolina. His legal name is Frank Shepard Fairey. Shepard began making art the age of 14. He is best known for ``The Graphic Designer Who Did The Obama Hope Poster.´´ SHEPARD FAIREY HOPE Shepard made this artwork called ``Hope´´ in the year 2008 . He believed that democracy was more than just voting. He says that ``the posters send messages to our leaders about the direction we want them to go.´´ OBEY Shepard created this artwork called ``Obey´´ in the year 1989. This artwork isn´t only known as worldwide street art campaign but also as body of fine art. It is based on variety and experience while thinking about your surroundings and having questions about the purpose. ANALYSIS • Street Art is beautiful all over the world. Not everyone thinks the same thing though. Some people think its vandalism to be writing in public places. There are a lot of people who are known for doing street art. It all started of as a secret becuase it wasn´t legal to be painting out in the streets. Now it is seen all over the world. People use art as a way to express themselves. Anyone can do art in the streets. It is all beautiful depending on the way they do it. It all depends on the way people see art as well. It has been around for a long time. Up until today it is still going on.
