STAGE & TOURING LIGHTING PACKAGES
The lighting packages listed here are designed from a functional and economical point of view. The optimum
throw distance for the 500 watt PAR 56 units is 30 feet. If your distance from the stage is further than this you
will need higher wattage fixtures. The designs are based on the many packages we have provided customers
over the past 18 years. They are complete packages except for color filters and stands. Stands are required for floor mounting situations. If you want a more sophisticated package that would include ellipsoidal,
Fresnel, and flood lights please give us a call. We'll be happy to design a package for your venue.

The Micro Ellipse is a lightweight framing spotlight with a 2” optical
system which produces a narrow to medium beam up to 15 ft. Unit
has a built-in transformer and uses MR16 12 volt lamps. Framing
shutters, pattern slot and holder accept 1.5” patterns. Comes with
color frame and safety cable.
Also available in white and a variety of anodized colors with optional
dichroic color filters for restaurants, store display and other

A 500-750 watt, heavy duty theatre instrument for front, side and

High Frequency Fluorescent Lighting
A soft light system designed to blend with conventional
tungsten, HMI and quartz lighting systems.
These fixtures are modular, with a range of lamp Kelvin color
temperature from 3000° to 5500° Kelvin. The system’s
modular building block is the reflector cell with a two lamp
cluster. The basic light series is available in 1, 2 & 3 cell
versions. The Narrow Flood units use a single deep cell to
collimate the light for accent or controlled flood application.
Fixtures are provided with a hanging yoke and an on/off
switch. Customer may select color temperature and CRI.
All other items are optional extras which may be purchased at
additional cost.

ROSCO
SINGLE AND DOUBLE GOBO ROTATORS
The Rosco Gobo Rotator accepts "B" size patterns, steel or glass,
and is fitted into the iris slot of an ellipsoidal spotlight. These gear
driven rotators are available in single or double gobo configurations,
and in variable (0-9 rpm, DC) or fixed speeds (1, 2, 5, or 10 rpm
available, AC). Controllers required for variable speed rotators permit
independent speed and direction control for each gobo. Control and
power is delivered to the unit via 4 pin XLR cable.
APOLLO SMART MOVE
Indexing Rotators allow you to stop and start gobo rotation and
determine position with precision (and repeatibility) accurate to onetenth of a percent. A power supply distributes both power and DMX to
these daisy-chainable units.
The Smart Move by Apollo offers simple multi-direction rotation along
with an array of individual gobo movements without the need of a
control board. The rotary switches and speed control dial allow the
user to easily set the desired effect and its speed.

MFX ADAPTER
The MFX Control Adapter is designed for people
who prefer non-DMX control for their motion
effects units, or double and single gobo rotators.
The adapter receives actual voltage from a
dimmer and converts it to a control signal,
allowing the motion effect to be controlled
directly by a dimmer, without using the DC/DMX
controller.
The MFX Control Adapter will allow for variable
speed, forward control only.

candle tip, a realistic stem with a dripping wax look,
an on/off switch, and a connection for a 9 volt

COLOR FILTERS
The Roscolux Light Lab Edition contains a 6.5" x 12" sample of
each color and diffusion. This allows a part of the sample to be

Lightwright is a unique cross between a spreadsheet and a

design paperwork. Lightwright understands what designers and
electricians do with their paperwork. It knows that dimmers and
circuits shouldn’t be overloaded, that striplights have more than one
color, that color scrollers have a whole series of colors and need a
control channel, and that some lights don’t use color at all! It can find
mistakes, compare two sets of paperwork, figure your circuit and
dimmer needs, automatically renumber a pipe, renumber or rearrange
your channels and dimmers, or even assign dimmers automatically
based on your channels.
Lightwright is the industry standard, used by both designers and

Ordering Curtain track involves a few
basic considerations.

Some of these are:
Will the track require a draw cord or
will it be a walk-along?
An all-purpose, medium duty track which can be used as a walkalong or a draw curtain. When used as a cyclorama draw curtain,
the method of installation, the radius of the curves and the type of
fabric being used become critical. We recommend that you send a
sketch and specifications prior to ordering. This is a very versatile,

Draw curtains are normally bi-parting front, back, or midstage curtains; or one-way draw scrims and cycloramas.
Walk-along curtains are usually cycloramas or back
curtains and do not require a draw cord.
To determine the length of a draw cord, add the total
length of the track and the height from the track to the
floor. Double this figure and add a 2% safety factor. It is
much better to have a little extra cord.
To determine the length of track required for a bi-parting
curtain; take the length of the proscenium opening, add
20% for stacking curtains at the ends and 4 feet for the
center overlap.
Stacking space for drapery is determined by adding the
length of the master carrier, approximately 3 inches, the
length of the end pulley, 4 to 6 inches, the stacking space
for each carrier, 1 to 2.5 inches, plus an additional 10%
allowance for fabric bunching.

Curtain track is sold on a per foot basis, with necessary
parts for a standard installation. For a bi-parting curtain
this includes the track channel, cut to the nearest foot,
one pair of master carriers, one single carrier per foot of
track, one live end pulley, one dead end pulley, one
tension floor pulley, two overlap clamps, necessary
hanging clamps, two end stops and cord support, and
curtain cord as specified.

CYCLORAMA SYSTEMS
Cyclorama tracks are equipped with curtains which are
normally hung at the sides and rear in order to enclose an
area on three sides. I beam track is used for stage and
studio cyc installations where the operator walks the
curtain to an open or closed position. The track can be
factory curved or curved on-the-job. No cord or pulleys are
supplied with "walk-along" track.

ALL of the portable stage lighting dimmers and controllers are made to
connect using standard cables and connections. It’s easy as
1...2...3!
1.
Plug your lighting instruments (PAR, Ellipsoidal, Fresnel,
etc.) into the dimmer pack standard Edison receptacles.
2.
Connect between dimmer packs and the controller
using standard XLR-type microphone cables. It won’t
matter which order they are connected as long as they
are all connected.

HEAVY DUTY 12/3 EXTENSION CABLES ARE RECOMMENDED.
Do not over load the AC power circuit(s) used to power the dimmers.
Usually both outlets on a duplex receptacle are on the same circuit, and
often several duplex outlets will be on the same circuit. Take care to
isolate separate circuits when connecting dimmers to AC power.
You’re done with the wiring! The controller
gets its power from either the dimmers or an
external power supply. Start programming the
dimmers and setting your lighting scenes.
When connecting electrical equipment it is important to observe
standard precautions to avoid electrical shock.
PERMANENT DIMMER INSTALLATION
A basic dimmer system is composed of five components; a controller, a dimmer rack or pack, the lighting instruments,
a distribution system and the power source. The power source is usually part of the building and provides electricity
to the system. The distribution system is the wiring that the lighting instruments are plugged into. In large systems
the wiring is in conduit or connector strips over and around the performance area. The dimmer rack, contains the
dimmers which control the flow of electricity through the distribution system to the lights making them bright or dim.
Dimmer racks contain multiple dimmers, each dimmer being referred to as a dimmer channel or circuit. The controller
sends electronic signals to the dimmers specifying the amount of electricity to flow to the lights.
Contemporary “memory” controllers permit the operator to store lighting cues in the controllers computer memory. Some
controllers will record the memory data to a disk so the show can be stored as a backup in a safe place.
Both permanent and portable dimming systems are designed with the above elements. The size and complexity of the
systems are determined by the venue, the use and the budget.
