C Tools University of Michigan Collaboration and Learning Environment CTools - U-M’s POWERFUL ONLINE COLLABORATION & LEARNING ENVIRONMENT CTools is a set of software tools that instructors can use to create course websites and anyone at the University of Michigan can use to create project websites. CTools is flexible and allows users to create sites that meet their specific needs. SOME EXAMPLES: An offical course website where the instructor makes announcements and provides a schedule of tests and assignments. A group project website where students can work together to share drafts and assemble a collaborative product. A research website where colleagues around the country send text messages in real time, share data, and manage materials. An official course website where students present their work to classmates or submit their assignments privately to instructors for review or grading. ENHANCED FEATURES ALLOW YOU TO: Send email notifications to announce changes to the site. Provide a separate, private folder for each participant in the otherwise collaborative space. Add buttons to the site navigation to connect to other important web sites, including news feeds. CTools ALSO PROVIDES: Support for foreign language input. Several participant roles with flexible permissions. The ability to add non-UM participants without administrative intervention.
