Basketball Coaching Course Course Content & Accreditation Information Course Information: Accreditation: Successful participants will receive a Basketball Club Coaching Accreditation upon completion of post course work (see below). Pre-requisites (mandatory): To attain the full accreditation participants must be aged 16 and over AND have one of the following qualifications: registered teacher; or Level 1,2 or 3 coach in any sport; or Community Coaching General Principles Certificate. This course is FREE to complete online through the Australian Sports Commission www.ausport.gov.au. Further Information in gaining this certificate can be found at the pre-requisites section of our website Accreditation Process Accreditation is FREE to those who complete all accreditation requirements as detailed in the course documentation if you are a: registered school primary or secondary school teacher as evidenced by a copy of your teacher’s registration; or school sport volunteer with a letter of support on school letterhead; or secondary school student with a letter of support on school letterhead; or university student studying a bachelor of education with a letter of support on university letterhead. If you are outside of the above area and wish to gain your National Accreditation you must apply to Basketball Queensland to receive permission to enrol in the course. Participants must forward evidence that they have completed the Community Coaching General Principles component of the course. Evidence should be sent to your course presenter whose details will be given on the day. Issue of Certificates Certificates will be issued by Basketball Queensland. Further Accreditation Participants can attain accreditation in other aspects of the game of basketball, including higher levels of coaching, officiating and score-table (see below for contact details). Course Content The course is mostly practical. There is an expectation that participants would have completed a Coaching General Principles course and therefore have prior knowledge of topics such as Role of the Coach, Communication, and Provision of a Safe Environment. It is also expected that participants would have experience in working with groups of children.
