Why Canberra?
Canberra is a place for all seasons. It is a place of national sporting and cultural
facilities. It is a place of democracy, discovery and learning.
The vast wealth of Australia’s culture, history and way of life is housed in its national
museums, institutions, galleries and attractions.
It is also a dynamic, sophisticated, cosmopolitan community of urban precincts
boasting diverse food, great coffee and entertainment.
Canberra — Australia’s modern capital city.
Why the AIS?
The Australian Institute of Sport. The AIS. Australia’s premier elite sports precinct.
A place that cannot be found anywhere else in Australia.
As Australia’s strategic high performance sport agency, the AIS is where the
sporting stars of the future are nurtured and is recognised the world over for

Canberra’s city centre, the AIS is the training camp location of choice for many
Australian and international high performance athletes, national teams, schools

At the AIS, all your sports camps needs are seamlessly rolled into one as your team
trains, recovers, eats, sleeps, learns and assesses its performance.

Learning at its best
At the AIS, we understand there is more to sporting success than just training
and competition. That is why our athletes are constantly watching, learning and
researching new ways to improve their performance.
The National Sport Information Centre (NSIC) at the AIS is a focal point for athlete
research and learning. More than just a library, it is Australia’s premier information

Along with a comprehensive collection of sports books, magazines, videos, DVDs
and images, the NSIC also provides access to sport research databases, audiovisual
facilities, photocopiers and the internet.
