Month Meetings
Each Chairman has autonomy, within the provisions of the Handbook, in conducting business,
specifically handling motions and voting. To maintain harmony and unity, we strive to incorporate
Knowledge-Based Decision Making and to eliminate debate whenever possible in our motion/voting
process. We strive for a Win-Win attitude, working together to make the wisest decision possible for the
good of Al-Anon
The Agenda: The Opening, Announcements, Reading of the minutes by the secretary, a Treasurer's
report, short reports are given by Officers, Coordinators (and committee chairpersons, if applicable).
New business includes the motions, new discussion items or motions that may come from groups,
districts, Area, or from a previous Assembly
Things that may come up: If an elected officer or any coordinator is not meeting the requirements of the
position, it is the chairperson’s responsibility to speak with them. It is very important to keep principles
above personalities in all of our endeavors, but specifically in this situation. Keep an eye on the problem,
not the person. Stay focused on the solution. Though the Chairperson appoints coordinators or
committee members, she/he is not expected to direct or supervise them. It is suggested the Chairperson
be available for questions, problem resolution and to offer suggestions if asked or if it seems
appropriate. By past practice, the Chairperson is considered a member of any Area-level committee,
although not expected to attend unless the Chairperson deems it advisable
Information Service Chair/ Liaison Expenses
Information Service pays the AIS chair/Liaison member's expenses to Pre-Conference and Assembly a
long as the prudent reserve is whole.
These expenses and those incurred by attendance as the AIS Liaison to Area World Service Committee
meeting are paid according to the same general guidelines as District Representatives, but the expenses
are paid from the AIS budget.
