Why did KIDSTAGE decide to produce Godspell? :
We chose this musical for a number of reasons, including the educational challenges it
presents to our students. A variety of musical styles and intensive choreography create
the perfect opportunity for the students to practice advanced singing techniques and work
on their endurance and precision in dance. In addition, Godspell is a uniquely ensemble
show, with every character onstage for the duration of the production. We believe this
will give the students the chance to work together as a team and learn to support one
another as performers. KIDSTAGE develops Skills for Theatre… Skills for Life and the
characters in Godspell grow, both as individuals and as a community, by challenging
preconceptions and facing down stereotypes. Further supporting our mission, Godspell
explores how an individual can take control of his/her life with responsible choices and
maintain a set of core values in spite of adversity.
