About 2G network closure:
 What is this 2G network closure about?
Singtel and all the Singapore mobile operators will stop providing 2G service from 1
April 2017. This will apply to 2G voice, messaging and data services.

Why is Singtel shutting down its 2G network?
To cater to increasing demand for data and faster access speeds, it is necessary to
close the older 2G network so that faster, more advanced 4G services can be
deployed on the same spectrum. Customers using 3G and 4G handsets will not be
affected.
About customer impact:
 How will I be affected by the 2G network closure?
You will not be able to make or receive calls, send/receive SMS/MMS or access
mobile data using a 2G handset after the 2G network closure on 1 April 2017.

How do I check if I am using a 2G handset?
Option 1
If the customer can see either “3G”, “H+”, “4G” or “LTE” next to the signal strength
indicator on the phone ( ), then the phone supports Singtel’s 3G/4G network and can
continue to be used.
If there are no symbols next to the signal strength indicator, then further checks are
required.
Option 2
Step 1: Dial *#06# on the phone and take note of the 15 digit IMEI number that is
displayed by the phone.
Step 2: Enter the IMEI number at http://www.imei.info. Under “Basic Information”,
check that the phone supports HSDPA and/or LTE.
Option 3
To confirm if they are using a 2G handset, customers can visit
www.singtel.com/goodbye2g or walk into any Singtel shop.

What should I do to ensure that I can continue using my existing mobile line
after the 2G closure?
Please confirm that you are using a 3G or 4G handset. A wide range of 3G and 4G
handsets are available at Singtel shops today. If you would like to purchase a handset
from an alternative channel, please check with the handset retailer on the device
specifications.

Do I need to change my SIM Card as well as my phone?
In general there is no need to change your SIM card to enjoy 3G services. You only
need to change your handset.

About handset upgrade/replacement:
 Can I continue to use my dual SIM slots Handset?
This will depend on the specifications of your handset. You will need to check with the
handset manufacturer.
If your handset has one 2G SIM slot and one 3G SIM slot, you can continue to use the
handset by ensuring that the Singtel SIM card is in the 3G SIM slot.
Newer dual SIM phones, such as the Xiaomi Mi 4, actually have two 3G/4G SIM slots.
