Materials Trim Developer – North Vancouver, BC, Canada

We are seeking a friendly and detail oriented person interest in pursuing, their passion for materials and
outdoor apparel. Working with internal departments, designers and materials suppliers, you will support the
Materials department in the sourcing, development and testing of new and components.
Ideally you will have:
•
1-2 years apparel industry experience related to trims and/or materials, OR
•
A degree or diploma in Materials Science, Apparel/Textile Design, or a related field
•
Working knowledge of the design and development process – from inception through to final adoption
•
General knowledge of findings, trims and notions – including materials and construction
•
Basic understanding of trims and textile manufacturing, such as dying, finishing, printing, molding, etc.
•
Able to work independently and cooperatively as part of multiple teams and with external clients
•
Strong organizational and communication skills
•
Must bring a pro-active approach to the role, including seeking out Proficient with computerized
systems (e.g. MS Office) and office communication technology.
•
Physical able to handle small boxes and rolls of fabric, etc
•
Participation in a variety of outdoor activities that we make products for would be considered an asset

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
•
Assist with domestic and international findings, notions and trims sourcing.
•
Develop trim components for apparel and equipment lines.
•
Assist with coordination of trims testing using Arc’teryx custom and industry standard tests, including
assisting with management of field testing programs.
•
Work with the Designers to develop trims for specific product functionality and branding requirements.
•
Manage seasonal trims developments against the calendar to ensure all developments are completed
on time.
•
Assist with maintaining trims and materials library.
•
Research findings, notions and trims trends by attending relevant material shows and
•
meeting regularly with suppliers for line reviews.
•
Develop and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of findings, notions and trims industry trends
•
Assist with monitoring, evaluating and resolving trims issues in production quality control.
•
Assist with meeting trims needs for use in seasonal prototypes and counter samples, including
inventory tracking of on-hand trims materials.
