Course Description:
This course is talk about financial structure and asymmetric information, bank
management and regulation, the targets and instruments of monetary policies,
and the transmission mechanism of monetary policy and its effectiveness.
Grading
Grading is based on three elements of your performance:
1. Participation (5%). Attendance will be taken in class.
2. Group activities (15%). The class will be randomly divided into several
groups. A final group project will be presented in class by each group. See page
3 for more details.
3. Problem sets and online quizzes (20%). A number of problem sets will be
assigned and graded. Quizzes will be given in Blackboard.
4. Exams (60%).
There will be three exams, 20% each. The final exam is scheduled by the
school. The other two exam dates will be announced two weeks after classes

Course Etiquette
Prerequisite grade of C or better in ECON 362, statistics and college level
calculus (A- required from 2-year school).

tolerated.
Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, the following: cheating,
plagiarism, tampering with academic records and examinations, falsifying
identity, and being an accessory to acts of academic dishonesty. Students in
this course are expected to observe the Student Academic Honesty Code and
should make sure they become familiar with its provisions. Violations of the
code, for example, cheating on exams, will be prosecuted as specified in the
Code.
