Mr. Snow, my eighth grade History teacher, is one who has still left a mark after all these years. His methods of teaching and introducing new subjects to our class were in- Mr. Jason Snow “I remember Molly as one of the most upbeat and positive young people I’ve ever met. She always had a smile on her face, even when she was frustrated. I love her sense of humor! For example, she once made the statement to the high school paper that she loved coming to school to see her friends, but she hated the pointless things you had to learn, like math. I actually credibly fun in every way possible. I remember coming to his class one day to find that his room had transformed into a slave trade ship with all of us as the unfortunate slaves. He brought a new meaning to hands-on learning, and that’s not something you find every day.” clipped that, put that on my bulletin board and showed it to a certain math teacher about ten times. One of my favorite memories of Molly had to do with a cup that we called, “The Hat.” I have all my students’ names on sticks in the cup and I pull them out randomly when I ask questions. That way I can honestly say, “I didn’t pick on you, the Hat picked on you.” One day the Hat picked Molly twice in a row. I mentioned that no one had ever been picked three times in a row. That day Molly set a record that has never been broken as she was chosen four times in a row. I still have students aiming to break that record. Molly has a rare combination of intelligence and optimism that will serve her well. I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes in the near future. I feel blessed to have been her teacher.” 11 Vanessa Bales Star Student Parents: David and Diana Bales Future Plans: Attending University of Texas at Arlington, majoring in Architecture Star Teacher: Ellen Hayden, MHS Science 12 Vanessa Bales “Ms. Hayden is fun loving in her sarcastic way; she is always trying to help me. She is very strict which helps me in the real world.” Ms. Ellen Hayden “Vanessa is the kind of student who fits into a lot of categories: athlete, band nerd, and the ultimate, Physics nerd. She has challenged herself to do her absolute best in every category, and is not one to give up. She waded her way through the hazards of the physics monkeys and has excelled. I know that Vanessa will go on to challenge herself and achieve great things in her future. Sometimes the going gets tough but I hope that it will always inspire her to new heights. Good luck Vanessa!” 13 Courtney Bauer Star Student Parents: John and Leslie Bauer Future Plans: Attending Texas A&M University, majoring in Petroleum Engineering Star Teacher: Beth Stewart, MHS English 14 Courtney Bauer “When I first walked into Ms. Stewart’s room sophomore year, I was completely intimidated by English class, and I truly considered myself to be a math person with no writing ability. However, over the course of that year, Mrs. Stewart transformed me and many of my classmates into writers. No more did the dreaded Literary Terms strike fear in our hearts! No, throughout Ms. Beth Stewart “No task seemed to daunt Courtney Bauer from scoring highly on an AP essay to acing a test, but Courtney truly exemplified “shining star” brilliance through her class projects. From creating a library of rhetori- that year Ms. Stewart taught each and every one of her students a very important lesson: that hard work can accomplish anything - after all, she turned us into competent writers! An outstanding student in my English II pre AP classroom, Courtney continues to reach the high levels of expectation that she sets for herself, a quality that will take her far. Courtney, best wishes for what I know will be a successful future. You RULE!!” 15 Katie Beckwith Star Student Parents: Michael and Lana Beckwith Future Plans: Attending Texas A&M University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering Star Teacher: Chance Livar, MHS Color Guard 16 Katie Beckwith “It wasn’t until my junior year that Mr. Livar came to teach the color guard. During my freshman and sophomore year, I was only in color guard for the P.E. credit, but after he began teaching, I began to enjoy the activity. Mr. Livar challenged Mr. Chance Livar “Katie, you have made me proud since the first day I met you. You’ve taught me so many things about myself and have helped me become a better instructor. There’s no doubt in my mind that you are destined all of his students to succeed and invested his time and effort to help us achieve our goals. He taught me to believe in myself and to never say “I can’t.” He has made a great impact on my life as well as all of the other guard members.” for great things and I am extremely honored to be able to call you my student. If you ever need words of encouragement to help overcome hurdles I will always be here for you. Beckwith, good luck at A&M!” 17 Angeline Black Star Student Parent: Chanyn Robinson Future Plans: Attending Southwestern Assemblies of God University Star Teacher: Aly Gaither, MHS English 18 Angeline Black “Not only Ms. Gaither, but her children, have made me who I am today. Her heart for God is evident even in the classroom environment, not by what she says, but what she does. Her two girls have given me Ms. Aly Gaither “Angie, you are an amazing young lady! Is there anything you can’t do? You have managed to juggle everything you’re involved in with grace and sincere appreciation. The girls love you, and they will miss spend- ing time with you after school! I will miss our little chats; especially when you’ve got something on your mind or you just need to vent! Best of luck at SAGU and may God bless all of your endeavors!” 19 Michael Boyd Star Student Parents: Steven and Paula Boyd Future Plans: Texas A&M University, majoring in Biomedical Science Star Teacher: Tim Reed, MHS Social Studies 20 Michael Boyd “Although Mr. Reed teaches the most boring and confusing subject at MHS, he finds a way to help me understand it. Outside of economics, he has also shown me there is more to life than most people think. Mr. Tim Reed “Michael is so calm, cool and collected, which is amazing. He seldom misses a stride or gets flustered by anything that happens in class. There is never an excuse and it is always on to the next task. His sense of humor is, for lack of a better word to describe it, fun. Little gets by him and he likes poking a little fun back, including at the Although work is a major aspect of life, he has shown me there are greater things to care about. His influence will guide me through college and carry over into my adult life.” teacher. What is really interesting to watch is him compare grades and work with his girlfriend - a very competitive couple. Michael has great confidence, the right humility, an awesome smile, he is a good friend, and has a willingness to help. He is dedicated to always do his best. Success looks like Mr. Michael Boyd.” 21 Ashley Cunningham Star Student Parent: Eli Cunningham Future Plans: Attending Columbia University, majoring in Biology with plans to become a Pediatric Gastroenterologist Star Teacher: Lorilyn Worley, MHS English 22 Ashley Cunningham “Ms. Worley has really been there for me this year. I feel like she has been one of those teachers that really cares. We have an interesting relationship. In the end she has definitely helped me survive this Ms. Lorilyn Worley “How do I describe Ashley Cunningham? Determined, Energetic, Creative…. Those words just aren’t enough. Ashley runs at a constant level of “boil”, always overflowing with life and energy. You can’t help but feel it, and respond to it when you are around her. Her inquisitiveness surpasses anyone I can remember in 22 years of teaching. Having a student in class who not only wants to discover the “what”, but also the “why” reminds me of why I wanted to teach in the first stressful year. I strongly believe that Ms. Worley is an extraordinary person; the way she makes even the toughest class fun, amazes me. Anyone who has her as a teacher is truly lucky. I know I feel honored to have had her.” place. I have been blessed with having Ashley in both AP Literature and AP Psychology this year, and we learn together quite often as we explore and discuss a variety of issues. Although never knowing where our conversations will go can be a little frightening at times! So many fond and fun memories of Ashley, many of them involving something hysterical she says in class. Never a dull moment! Ashley is tenacious when it comes to studying and would still be bringing up questions that last moment before a test. Other memories involve the amazing amount of breakfast food the girl can consume before school begins each day, or at an IHOP study session for AP Psych! But seriously Ashley, keep that desire to learn, but make sure you don’t push yourself so hard that you miss out on the beauty and joy around you. Keep that amazing energy and spirit that draws others to you. Watch where you are going! We won’t be there every day to catch you when you fall! (Out of chairs, over a pencil….) and finally, dare to disturb the universe! Amazing things await you!” 23 Brooke Emery Star Student Parents: Greg and Karen Emery Future Plans: Attending Texas A&M University, with plans to become a Surgical Physicians Assistant Star Teacher: Patti Spillers, MHS Math 24 Brooke Emery “Ms. Spillers has taught me for two years now, and without her, I would not be where I am today in my academic standing. I have always loved math, and it has been my best subject in school. She has been, by far, the greatest math teacher I have ever Ms. Patti Spillers “Brooke, I want you to know what a joy it has been to have you in class. You have been a bright spot in my day for the last two years. You are the kind of student who realizes that while good grades may not always lead to knowledge, knowledge will always lead to good grades. Your drive and intelligence have been amazing, and I know that your sense of commitment and had. She teaches selflessly, and always has our best interests at heart. I’m so fortunate to have had such a wonderful teacher for half of my high school career, and I hope that she thinks as highly of her students as we do of her.” high academic standards will give you a valuable head start as you take the next important step toward your future. I cannot begin to tell you what an honor it has been to be your teacher. As you move on to other arenas of endeavor, the same focus and desire you brought into my classroom every day will give you all the tools you need to make any dream you can possibly imagine come true.” 25 Hunter Enderle Star Student Parents: Dwayne and Donna Enderle Future Plans: Attending Texas A&M University, majoring in Biomedical Sciences with plans to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Star Teacher: Christina McDaniel, WGMS/FSMS CMPS 26 Hunter Enderle “Ms. McDaniel is an inspiring educator of the Midlothian School District, and exceeds the expectations of any accomplished teacher and coach. Throughout my two years in Community Problem Solvers, I have watched as she tackled any challenge that rose before her. Her great determination to be successful has inspired me throughout Ms. Christina McDaniel “Hunter, you were part of my first group of problem solvers and that is something I will never forget. When I realized a group of middle school students have the potential to change their world, I was enamored. You have a presence about you that matches no other. Your smile and little “chuckle” put others at ease even in the most stressful situa- the years as she led our community projects flawlessly. As his number sense coach, I tried to teach him a few tricks, but it didn’t take long until the best I could do for him was to print out a test and watch him work his magic. It was refreshing later as his statistics teacher, to get to show him something he didn’t already know. Most of my fond ple months of school was also quite fun. At Regionals 2012 I tested my Mancala strategy against him. We later discovered that it is indeed unbeatable, if played correctly, and Mancala is flawed. I am much happier and more motivated because of my time with Mr. McClung.” memories with Joseph involve losing or getting lost. Remember that time we got lost in Rain, and you beat me at Mao? Remember that time we got lost in Denton and you beat me at Settlers? Remember that time we got lost in Lubbock and you beat me at Mancala? Good times. Good times. I think you always had higher expectations for yourself than I had for you. I always would congratulate you, and you’d give me a look that would say “that’s not good enough.” Keep pushing yourself. I don’t know whether you’ll be a graphic designer or a programmer or a professional break dancer, but if you keep pushing yourself you’ll do well in whatever you decide to do. I’ll miss you, but I know the future holds good things for you. And, oh yeah, go Comets!” 29 Thomas Henry Star Emcee Parent: Jill Spain Future Plans: Attending Texas A&M Galveston, then Texas A&M University, majoring in History and joining the Corps of Cadets Star Teacher: Kristi Bogy, MHS Speech/Debate 30 Thomas Henry “Of all of the teachers in MISD, I would have to say that Ms. Bogy has had the biggest influence on not just my education, but my life. I believe that everyone in debate agrees with me when I say that she is less of a teacher and more of a second mother. She has always been there for us regardless of our problems, and guided us as we went. She has made me work, even in my laziest moments (no small achievement on its own), and even given me the Ms. Kristi Bogy “Tommy- What an amazing 3 1/2 years! You started in my Communication Application class and then ventured in debate your sophomore year not really knowing what to expect. During three years of competing in debate and speaking events, you advanced to varsity and lettered your first year, won numerous tournaments, push that it took to make it to Regionals in extemporaneous speaking. She has shown true devotion to her students, going as far as to give up a large majority of her weekends just so we can go to a tournament. Because of this I would like to honor Ms. Bogy at today’s banquet.” earned top speaker in the district last year and are ending your career as a two time regional qualifier in persuasive speaking and L-D debate regional alternate. In addition to your hard work and dedication, you also brought a lot of humor to our class. I will always remember the fake mustaches, Santa hats, nerf guns, princess earrings, gas mask, blow darts, toy snakes, war with the twins, and your ability to always find a humorous twist to any situation you or the team may encounter. Thank you for your leadership- serving as L-D debate captain your junior year, helping guide/train new debaters and for serving as an awesome co-president this year-you have been an amazing role model. Music is a big part of my life, so naturally choir was the perfect activity for me. The best thing about my first years of choir wasn’t the singing, though--it was having Mr. Carbone as a director. He cares so much about both his work and his students, and that amount of care is Mr. Cliff Carbone “Rachel - YOU ARE ONE IN A MILLION!!!! I can actually still remember your audition at the end of your 6th grade year for choir the following year and remember thinking: “Wow! It wasn’t long after rehearsals began your 7th grade year that I discovered you had much more to offer the program than just your pretty voice, pretty face, and smart brain. You had leadership quality in every sense of the word. Along with your mature work-ethic, I’m not sure I can remember you ever being negative about anything and not once did I hear you speak a harsh or cruel word over anybody. You were also a little quirky - and I knew that YOU knew that others thought you were a little quirky. But I also knew one other thing: you didn’t care. You were just going to be yourself and that was that. And it’s THAT confidence, along with that great talent, work-ethic, and smarts that has served you well these past six years and is your ticket to a bright and successful future! Congratulations Rachel on your success! Abilene Christian University is inheriting a great scholar and leader. First period is usually the worst period, especially coming from a morning of working out for football. But nothing is more fun than coming into class and hearing “How you doin’ today boo boo!” With a teacher like this, you can imagine the quotes that she Ms. Jan Wunnenberg “Tony and his first period AP class began my day with such joy last year! We frequently would start each class with a journal prompt and/or class discussion-which provided more information about some nebulous topic than anyone would possibly want to know! Tony soon started his own tradition of bringing his breakfast to class and enjoying quite a feast, as I recall. I was amazed and inspired by Tony and his classmates has inspired, which were all chronicled in a quote book we kept throughout the year. My favorite was “ I looove dogs... And T Kirk (me)....And butter.” Not only did Ms. Wunnenburg create a great environment for learning English, but also supported me in my decision to travel out of state for college next year.” when they would create projects or write academic level responses to prompts from the college board, all in the on-going attempt to pass the Language and Composition AP test last May, which, of course, Tony did! The real test of connection was at the beginning of this year, when Tony became a senior, and he was no longer greeting me each morning with his smile and his breakfast in tow. Thankfully, he did come back and visit on many occasions when school first began. It was a high- light in the day and such a blessed way to start a new school year without him--but a whole new crew of learners. As proud as his family must be, I share in the delight and pride of this young man. He consistently shows qualities of maturity, excellence, well-roundedness, and Godly values. The future and the plans God has in store for him are truly something to look forward to in his college pursuits and career. Tony, God bless you and keep you!” 39 Emily Lundberg Star Student Parents: Gregg and Laurie Lundberg Future Plans: Attending University of Texas Dallas, majoring in Biology Star Teacher: Jennifer Ferranti, MHS Science 40 Emily Lundberg “I chose Ms. Ferranti because she always sets high standards and expects students to do their best no matter who they are. She is truly dedicated to helping her students succeed, not just scrape by. She doesn’t Ms. Jennifer Ferranti “I could say that Emily is a hardworking student. I could say that she is bright and ambitious. That she maintains high academic standards and is truly driven to succeed. Although all of that is true, it doesn’t say anything about the Emily that I have come to know. I would rather say that Emily is the kind of student who pushes me to be better at what I do. She wants to know teach us just so we can pass a test, she teaches us to enrich our education. Although she is a little crazy at times, I’ll always remember her as the teacher who really wanted to help me learn.” more than expected, to truly understand the concepts, the details, to see the entire picture. She keeps me on my toes. More importantly, Emily knows who she is. She knows what she wants and what she doesn’t want, what she likes and what she hates. There is even a list in case we ever forget. Such self-assuredness is so rare in someone her age, or any age for that matter. I will remember Emily for her honesty, her boldness, and her forthright nature, her con- fidence, her sense of humor, and her eye rolling. That is the Emily that I will remember. Emily- the only advice I can offer you is to keep staying true to who you are and for every item that you add to your “list of hate”, try to add two to your “list of like”. Above all know that you have left your mark. You will be missed. Good Luck!” 41 Sarah MacDonnell Star Student Parents: Patrick and Sharon MacDonnell Future Plans: Attending University of Texas at Arlington, majoring in Medical Technologies and plans to become a laboratory technician Star Teacher: Larry Gentry, MHS Art 42 Sarah MacDonell “Mr. Gentry has taught me so much in only a year. I’ve grown as an artist greatly under his direction. He is an amazing teacher, and I am grateful for all of his advice. The lessons he has taught me about art I will not forget.” Mr. Larry Gentry “Sarah is the dream student. She comes to class ready to work, listen, and take suggestions. Sarah’s art is as sophisticated as college graduate school level work. In fact working with Sarah reminds me of the camaraderie I shared with my fellow graduate art students. Don’t repeat this but Sarah is actually much smarter than me. Shhhhhhhh.” 43 McKenna Maxwell Star Student Parents: Terry and Jeannie Maxwell Future Plans: Attending Stephen F. Austin University, majoring in Management, then attending grad school at Southern Methodist University, majoring in Arts Management. Star Teacher: Geri Salazar, MHS Science 44 McKenna Maxwell “Ms. Salazar would always welcome us in the hallway when we came in every morning. She taught me how to study, how to work hard, and how to bring humor to any Ms. Geri Salazar “McKenna, it was a pleasure having you in DC Anatomy. Your smile spoke volumes while you are quiet and unassuming. You have a wonderful, shining personality and smarts to go with it! I was always impressed with your success in class while so much of your time was situation. She showed us what to expect in the “real world” and gave us tips for college. After having her for a year, I consider myself lucky to have known her as both a person and a teacher.” consumed by your extra-curricular activity. Many blessings to you!” 45 Jagger McCord Star Student Parents: Christy McCord, Bill and Sherri Hatcher Future Plans: Attending University of Texas Dallas, majoring in Computer Engineering Star Teacher: Terri Kornman, MHS French 46 Jagger McCord “Bonjour Ms. Kornman! I thought about writing this in French, but that’s cliché (no pun intended-maybe) and my accent would probably make her ears bleed anyway. I have a huge passion for foreign languages and much of it is due to Mrs. Kornman. She’s been my French teacher for three years now, and I’ve had a Ms. Terri Kornman “Jagger, you are one of the most exceptional language students that I have taught in 21 years. I have never had to explain any language concept to you more than once. You remember absolutely everything that I tell you, and then make the leap to tie in concepts with material that has not yet been introduced. As you are intensely curious, the last lot of fun in class and with the French Club. I have no idea what would have happened if she didn’t start teaching French here my sophomore year, but I’m incredibly grateful she did. Je voudrais vous remercier d’être une trés bonne prof, et une grande amie.” three years have brought a constant stream of questions, but questions that I never tired of answering, because they were always well thought out and interesting. Quick-witted and intelligent, you have a dry sense of humor that makes for amusing conversation and a maturity that is far beyond your age. You have been an absolute pleasure to work with, and I know that your intelligence, maturity, sense of humor, and character will take you to amazing places. My hope for you: That you are ever curious. Even the most mundane experience and the dullest person will have some lesson to teach you if you just pay attention. And a request for you: Remember me when Bill Gates is working for you. Get out there and make your mark!” 47 Erin Mitchell Star Student Parents: Thomas and Adrienne Mitchell Future Plans: Attending Baylor University, with plans to become a Speech Pathologist Star Teacher: Greg Pruitt, MHS Ag 48 Erin Mitchell “To be completely honest, I signed up for Ag class my freshman year thinking that I would be surrounded by hicks and cowboys and only learning about cows and tractors. Little did I know, that I would experience so much more with the help of my Ag teacher, Mr. Pruitt. I have been actively involved in the Midlothian FFA chapter through- Mr. Greg Pruitt “I’ve been very fortunate during my years of teaching to have encountered many bright and promising students, but none have exceeded all of my expectations as Erin Mitchell. As a quiet, shy 9th grader, I could see that she had much to offer. After a year of coaxing and prodding out high school, and with his help, achieved some of my greatest accomplishments. Mr. Pruitt instilled in me the confidence to believe in myself, conquer my fears, and never give up on anything. I won’t ever forget the encouragement and support that Mr. Pruitt has given me and thank him from the bottom of my heart for everything.” and making her cry four times in an hour, she stepped up and gave her first public speech. She owned it and has never looked back. It was game on and she showed her excellent work ethic in all she did. She genuinely cares about everything, lets her actions speak for herself, and has a calming attitude that helps those she comes in contact with. Most of all, I appreciate the way that she always kept the “little stuff” away from me during those stressful times and was able to be patient with me and this crazy ag life that she was a huge part of. Thanks Erin for your commitment to the Midlothian FFA chapter and to the Pruitt Family.” 49 Grayson Ridge Star Student Parents: Tom and Rachel Ridge Future Plans: Attending Texas A&M University, with plans to become an Aerospace Engineer Star Teacher: Riki Underwood, WGMS Math 50 Grayson Ridge “As an educator, Ms. Underwood prepared me for the rigors of future math and science classes that rely heavily on what she taught me in algebra. Her curriculum and class structure provided an environment that I could excel in and enjoy. It was in her class that I decided what I wanted to pursue (aerospace), and that an educational career in math and science is what fit me best. Most importantly, I was able to connect with her on a personal level, Ms. Riki Underwood “When you start teaching they always tell you about the students whose lives you will change, but they never tell you about the students who will change yours. I taught Grayson my first year at Walnut Grove, and he set the bar for every student who has walked into my class since. Grayson was the kind of student who was never to which we are still what one might consider close friends. To her credit, she put up with my disruptiveness and incessant teasing, and it’s to this day we laugh about all the pranks I played on her and vice versa. I consider Ms. Underwood one of my all-time favorite teachers because of the fun I had in her class, the lessons learned, and the many opportunities that have opened up because of her.” satisfied with a correct answer. He wanted to know why that answer was correct. He was smart; sometimes he was a little too smart for his own good. I was pregnant the year Grayson was in my class, and being the sweet person he was, he liked to make fun of how fat I was getting. At one point he even put a fart machine under my desk and had a remote to set if off every time I sat down. I knew it was him be- cause of the smirk on his face. All kidding aside, Grayson made my first year at WGMS a memorable one. He was a great student in 8th grade, and I’m proud of the person he’s turned into. Good luck, Grayson, on all the adventures ahead of you. You will go lots of places and do amazing things, but I hope you never forget those of us who had the chance to be a part of your journey.” 51 Noah Rodgers Star Student Parents: Joe and Nicol Rodgers Future Plans: Attending Texas A&M University, majoring in Physics and Music with plans to become an Acoustical Engineer Star Teacher: Matthew Fisk, MHS Choir 52 Noah Rodgers “From the first day I entered the classroom, I knew Mr. Fisk and I were going to get along swimmingly. He always keeps a relaxed, conversational atmosphere in the classroom willing to discuss concepts on your level, catering to each student’s specific needs. We could always count on him to find interesting Mr. Matthew Fisk “I have never been challenged within my music theory class more than when I had Noah. I had to be sure I was always on my A game. He knows his stuff. There were many days that I should have just let real-life applications for the things we were learning in the class (i.e. the Daxophone). Because we are both fellow musicians, we are able to relate on a more personal level. He is the teacher I can attribute my success on the AP test too. A great teacher and person, Mr. Fisk will remain one of my favorite high school teachers.” him teach! For the past two years, Noah has gone with us to solo and ensemble. He went in and played for the judges and did a wonderful job. After he left, I overheard the judge speaking to a colleague and they both were wishing that they had daughters his age. Not only did he play amazingly, but he charmed them with his genuine care and respect. Noah is an amazing student and musician. It has been a privilege to be able to teach Noah. I look forward to hearing about the joys of majoring in physics and music!” 53 Allisa Sears Star Student Parent: Sharrie Sears Future Plans: Attending University of Texas at Austin to study Speech Pathology Star Teacher: Laura Truett, MHS Pantherettes Director 54 Allisa Sears “I have had the privilege of having Ms. Truett as my director for four years. Throughout those four years, Ms. Truett has always supported and encouraged me in all of my endeavors. She has shown me how to handle tough situations with grace and she has remained a stronghold on our team when obstacles got in the Ms. Laura Truett “I recently read an article, “How to be a Perfect Student.” As I was reading it, I thought of you and how you have been so perfect in and out of drill team. I know God puts people in our lives at certain times to help us through, and I couldn’t way. She has helped me grow as not only a dancer, but a leader and a person. I cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for me since I have been with the Pantherettes. She is an amazing director, teacher, and woman. I am so thankful she is a part of my life.” think of a more perfect person to help me lead the team through this year. You have taught me not to be so hard on myself, to pray about everything and worry about nothing. As it says on my office door, “Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay in our lives for a while leaving footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same.” I hope that we stay in each other’s lives for many years to come and that I have left as many footprints on your heart as you have on mine. Irvin Elementary 3rd grade 56 Akshar Ved “After seven years of many other teachers and opportunities, Ms. Dunegan has still had a tremendous impact on my education and development. Very few days go by where I don’t recall her dancing on her desk to the Shrek soundtrack after our whole classed passed the TAKS test. Her relentless support and dedication to myself as well as Ms. Jill Dunegan “When I had Akshar in my 3rd grade class, he was constantly the bright spot in my classroom! He always had a quiet sense of humor and knew when to use it. I knew back then that he would be successful in whatever he chose to do! I was so excited when I saw him last my peers in elementary school have made me value her work as an educator. Strong study habits, hard work, and my commitment to education are all a result of her unwavering support. Without her, my educational experience in the Midlothian school system would not have been the same. Thanks, Ms. Dunegan.” year and he informed me he would be going to UT. Being a Texas Ex myself, I knew I’d raised him right! ;) Akshar, you are going to have a great college experience. I have no doubt that you will be just as successful in Austin as you have been in Midlothian. The sky is the limit to your success!” 57 Rebecca Walker Star Student Parents: Dr. Randy and Sue Walker Future Plans: Attending University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Accounting Star Teacher: Terri Blank, WGMS Library 58 Rebecca Walker “Ms. Adamson-Blank was a very positive influence throughout my childhood. Her incredible patience is admirable and her kindness is inspiring. Ms. Adamson-Blank helped me and countless others develop a passion for reading, starting with opening our eyes to new worlds Ms. Terri Blank “I have been blessed to get to spend two years with Becky since she’s been in school. She was in my 3rd grade class at Longbranch Elementary and was a student library aide at Walnut Grove Middle School. I always knew Becky would end up at the top of her class and have enjoyed watching her grow up. Becky has always been an avid reader. As a little girl at Longbranch, she devoured Harry Potter books. When I became and stories. She motivated me during my elementary school years and then encouraged me in my middle school years. I want to thank her for her dedication to helping her students, and I’m glad I was lucky enough to be one of them.” her librarian at middle school, she enjoyed reading other more “girly” book series. One of my funniest memories I have of Becky was when I worked with her 8th grade algebra class to make podcasts. The assignment was to create a podcast describing a three dimensional figure using examples from the real world to teach other students about their shape. The radio show-style podcast was creatively named “The Spheres” starring Ballistic Becky and friend Maniac Miranda as the co-hosts of the show. “The Spheres” were a new band and the hosts were describing the characteristics of “The Spheres” through very creative means. I have watched that podcast several times over the years and thought of the well-rounded girl Becky has become. She has a great sense of humor and the academic drive needed to become very successful in life.” 59 Midlothian ISD Education Foundation Since beginning in April 2004, the Midlothian ISD Education Foundation has given over $300,000 to Midlothian ISD through innovative teaching progams, student recognition banquets, scholarships, and various other programs.
