ISBN 978-0-9808469-0-4 Perquisites CSCI 102 or instructor permission Students should have familiarity with the HTML and CSS. They should be comfortable with lists, tables, basic styling, and have an introduction to forms CSCI 202: Syllabus Course Description Students learn the new features of HTML 5 and CSS 3. Additionally, students will learn web design techniques such as: how to effectively organize content on their website, optimize their websites across browsers and devices, and usability testing. The course will cover the following topics: HTML Page Layout Organizing Content on your Website (Information Architecture) Creating Page Navigation with CSS (Dropdown menus) Designing Advanced Forms HTML 5 New Features PHP includes to reduce code More advanced CSS CSS 3 New Features Optimizing Websites for Mobile Note This course will require approximately 15 hours per week outside of class, therefore students must either have a personal computer or have sufficient access to the computer lab. If you do not put in the necessary time, you will not succeed! Evaluation (subject to change) Individual Assignments Quizes 80 20 * ** Make sure to frequently check your grades in Angel *** CSCI 202: Syllabus Assignments Assignments are due at the beginning of class on the date due. Late Policy: You will receive no credit for late work. Late Pass: You get one late pass. Meaning only one assignment can be late with no penalty up till 2 days, and then it will not be accepted. To Submit: o You will attach a link to your website on the angel’s dropbox Policies I do not condone academic dishonesty in any form. Students may not copy work from each other or from any outside source. If you are suspected of plagiarizing on an assignment or cheating on an exam, you will receive zero credit and the Dean of Students will be notified. Assignments are not team projects, and should be completed individually. While you may discuss assignments with your peers, your code should be your own. If two students turn in the same assignment, each will receive 50% of the grade. Cell phones and pagers must be turned off while in the classroom. Do not use computers during lecture unless you are taking notes. During class, computers are to be used only for course-related work, not for checking email, playing games or surfing the Web. These activities are distracting to your classmates and disrespectful to the instructor.
