Project Controls Manager Job Type: Full Time Location: Fort Worth, Texas Reports To: Assistant Project Manager Supervises: A project controls sub consultant Class: Exempt Summary: The Project Controls Manager will plan, develop and coordinate project controls support services (staff, tools and procedures) to assist senior level staff and project partners on a large program. This position utilizes widely diversified knowledge of project controls solutions, and draws upon extensive experience and exposure to various types of projects and clients. The main functions of this role are communication, building trust and relationships utilizing project controls, managing expectations and execution of the project controls team, and quality control of all project controls information. This organization utilizes Oracle/Primavera software. Typical Duties (Major): 1. Serve as primary contact between project controls team, staff and partners to build trust, validation and relationships. 2. Manage day to day direction of project control management services sub-consultant team; coordinate, assign and supervise project work activities utilizing action item lists, and weekly meetings. 3. Perform and manage quality assurance of all documents generated by project controls team. 4. Coordinate and communicate information between project controls team and finance and accounting department, along with staff. 5. Lead meetings and implement processes to improve communication, planning, and reporting of program and project controls information to staff and partners. 6. Create statistical reports for management on a recurring or one-of-a-kind basis; keeps management fully informed. 7. Maintain thorough understanding and documentation of daily project controls issues and program risks. 8. Assess the impact(s) of design/construction budget changes and schedule variance through risk assessment. 9. Manage timing of schedule and cost changes into P6 and direct what-if analysis to test alternatives and validate recommended options. 10. Communicate potential mitigation options to senior staff and project partners. 11. Monitor consistency of approach and big picture objectives. 12. Look for inconsistencies in the approach to implement the program goals and objectives. 13. May be required to make informal or formal presentations. 14. Develop, direct, coordinate, maintain and improve project controls systems. 15. Develop and deliver or facilitate training of staff to improve project controls tools, processes and procedures. 16. Monitor and support administration for project controls software. 17. Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Education, Training and Experience: Required: • 4-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management • 10-15 years of related project controls and program management experience, including experience in a supervisory capacity, in the field of construction • Basic engineering knowledge in infrastructure, civil, structural or a related field • Proficient computer skills including experience in various software products used in the Project Controls Department, including Primavera, Excel, and document controls software. • Working knowledge in Primavera P6 Enterprise Project Portfolio Management V7 or higher, specifically with complex, cost loaded schedules • Proven ability to perform in a supervisory capacity • Skilled in Microsoft office suite and Oracle/Primavera project controls software • Working knowledge of SharePoint • Working knowledge of large program finance and accounting Preferred: • Experience on large, multi-million dollar public projects or jointly funded programs a plus • Experience with United States Army Corps of Engineers a plus • Experience with large Civil and Transportation projects a plus • Experience with government procurement and various project delivery methods a plus Acceptable Equivalents: N/A Certification or License: Valid Texas Driver’s License. Equipment Used: Computer and related peripherals, office equipment, and automobile. Physical/Mental Demands: Use of sight, hearing, speech, and hands is required for compilation and analysis of data. The ability to work odd hours and overtime when required.
