Visual Art Department Audition Requirements 2014-2015 Student applicants will be required to complete a Portfolio and an Audition Folder containing all necessary contents. These items will be presented to the art faculty reviewers at the beginning of the audition. The audition portfolio review and interview will take approximately fifteen minutes. Original artwork will go home with the student applicant directly after the audition concludes. Pre-audition: • Parents/guardians are encouraged to set up a shadowing appointment through the main office. • Prepare Portfolio • Prepare Art Audition Folder and contents Portfolio Requirements (5-10 examples of quality artwork): 1. Self portrait or portrait from direct observation/ media open 2. Still life from direct observation/media open 3. Landscape or cityscape from direct observation or photograph 4-10 Choice examples of artwork demonstrating skill and creativity/ subject and media open Audition Folder Contents: 1. Recent photograph of applicant 2. Portfolio images- 5-10 photographic prints or disc containing JPEGs (see Artwork Requirements list) 3. 3-5 paragraph typed essay about an influential or favorite artist. Audition Day: 1. Present completed Audition Folder and Portfolio to the art faculty 2. Applicant should be ready to introduce him/herself, answer questions, talk about learning and artistic goals, and offer insights about his/her influential/favorite artist.
