WELCOME! We extend a cordial welcome to everyone in the name of our crucified and risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Visitors are always welcome in our midst. Order of Worship—(As Printed in the Bulletin) -Ringing of the Bell The real story of the 12 days of Christmas Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church AS WE GATHER— “The Real Story of the 12 Days of Christmas” Who would have thought there was any connection between the song, “The Twelve Days of Christmas” and a Christian worship service? How could a song with supposed nonsensical words have anything to do with the birth of Jesus? But such is truly the case! Sadly, the dust of many, many Christmases has covered the original meaning of this song, a meaning seated deeply in the teachings of the Christian Church. The significance of this song carries with it some startling truths. It includes such teachings as the four Gospels, the five books of Moses, the eleven apostles, the nine fruits of the spirit, the ten Commandments, the eight Beatitudes, the six days of creation, and more. Once we discover that the twelve days of Christmas are in no ways leading up to Christmas, but instead the twelve days between Christmas and Epiphany, the symbolism begins to take shape. + Introduction + Processional “O Come Little Children” (Congregation & Children) West Bloomfield, WI Children’s Christmas Program December 24th, 2015 O come little children, O come, one and all, To Bethlehem haste, to the manger so small God’s Son for a gift has been sent you this night To be your Redeemer, your Joy and delight 1 He’s born in a stable for you and for me, Draw near by the bright-gleaming starlight to see In swaddling clothes lying so meek and so mild, And purer than angels-the Heavenly Child. See Mary and Joseph, with love-beaming eyes Are gazing upon the rude bed where he lies; The shepherds are kneeling, with hearts full of love, While angels sing loud alleluias above. Kneel down and adore Him with shepherds today Lift up little hands now and praise Him as they Rejoice that a Savior from sin you can boast And join in the song of the heavenly host. Invocation Pastor: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit. People: Amen Pastor’s Introduction Prayer Pastor: Dear Savior, once more we thank You that we have had the blessed privilege of celebrating Your birth, and singing Your praises. May our hymns, prayers, and all our service find ready acceptance with You. Take up Your abode in the hearts of the many millions who these holidays are seeking to glorify Your most holy name. Give us all a deeper, fuller love of You, our Lord and King, who first loved us and became our Brother by taking on our human flesh as a little baby born in Bethlehem. To You alone be all the honor and glory, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns forever. Amen. “The Real Story of the Twelve Days of Christmas” By: Rev.
