Central presb accomplishments
Here's my stuff for tomorrow night:
We are working on energy efficiency at Central Presbyterian because we are a
socially minded congregation focused on improving our community. By
streamlining our building and practices, we will require fewer resources and
demand less from the planet. By encouraging the congregation to participate in
environmentally friendly activities, we will promote positive behavior in the future.
• Working with Austin Energy on energy efficiency - installed a load profiler on
our electric meter so we can track electricity use and are working on
getting contractors to do estimates on replacing sanctuary lighting with
more efficient bulbs
• Auditing existing building and facilities for possible efficiencies and updates
• Earth Day recycling- every year around Earth Day we hold a recycling day
where people can bring in batteries, electronics, and other household
items that cannot be recycled curbside
Hosting a bike to church day where people meet at a coffee shop about 3 miles
from the church and bike to church
