Your sewing & embroidery machine, embroidery software, and long arm specialists. Winter 2015 Hello Sewing Friends! With the smell of cinnamon and pumpkins, and the sounds of leaves rustling in the yard, fall is in full swing and winter is not far behind. Get your snow tires on, and get your machines tuned up for that favorite time of the year; sewing season! Busy is an understatement for CS Sewing and we can’t thank you enough. Over the past many months we have gone through remodeling, had many events, and been doing some fun training with our CS Sewing crew. Feedback about the way the sales floor is coming together has been great. We thank you for all the compliments. There are still a few things left to do and move around, but we are very happy with how everything is coming together. Our classroom is filling up with exciting projects for winter 2015 and into the first of the year. We are now offering the Anita Goodesign Embroidery Workshop which has been very well received! Thank you to Ann for all her work to make this so successful! Judith will be teaching a NEW quarterly “technique” type class that focuses on how to properly use presser feet, but it is not limited to just that topic. If the subject helps you get better results, there is no subject off limits in that class. Of course Software Sampler is coming back, and so is our Girl’s Night Out fast, fun, and easy classes. And for you Hoop Sisters fans, we have options for you, both large and small projects this quarter! I think that is going to be a big hit! Last but certainly not least, we have had numerous requests for garment construction classes so we are offering Beginning Sewing 1 & 2 again for those of you interested. The skills you develop when you take a sewing class are priceless. Not only is it good for your brain, it gets you sewing more which improves your skills, but we also see a community of sewers uniting and developing friendships which really touches our hearts. If you have not been in recently, then you will be amazed at the long arm presence on our sales floor. We have more than 4 long arms on our sales floor, many in full frame mode. Even if you don’t see yourself in the market for such a machine, we invite you to come in and take one for a ride. The experience may cause us to have to add wine and cheese to the demonstration. In closing, be sure to look at all the promotional pricing Scott has on all the great Babylock and Bernina machines! He has been busy getting together the best pricing and financing options available so your holidays can be full of the machine of your dreams. Get out the winter boots! She could not find anything to suit her needs in the marketplace, so she worked with her father to create something that could be used with her own home sewing machine. It had to be light and small enough to carry in her car yet adjustable so it could accommodate small or large quilts. When her friends saw the portable, adjustable frame she had created, they wanted one too. By May of 2001, the business was incorporated and Laurel and her husband Roger went to quilt shows around the country to sell and advertise the “Handi Quilter”, as well as set up wholesale business relationships with quilt shop owners to sell the frame. The business continued to grow in 2002, an application was made for a patent, six competitors entered the marketplace. Laurel reviewed the market and saw the demand for a larger sewing machine. The only existing option was a commercial, long -arm machine which were typically too large, heavy and expensive for home use. Laurel recognized the potential of the home machine quilting market, if a quality product could be offered at an affordable price and fit in the home environment. She explored the possibilities of an existing sewing machine company making a mid arm machine for her company. When none were interested, she decided to do it herself. In late 2002 and early 2003, she invested in the design and production of an entirely new line of products – the “HQ Sixteen” quilting machine and the adjustable frames to support it. Today, Handi Quilter continues to lead out in the quilting industry, following our founder’s vision – “Designed by a Quilter, for Quilters”®. In 2010, Handi Quilter became the only longarm quilting machine company to achieve worldwide safety and electrical certificates for our quilting machines and systems, allowing HQ to expand to more than 700 worldwide independent retail locations. Our dedicated engineering team works with quilters when creating new and innovative products. Handi Quilter’s continued focus on education is shared with national educators in our HQ Studio and throughout the U.S. who share their talents and information. Our recognized leading Customer Relations Team and Technical Solutions Team focus on quilters’ needs every day. Our retail partners are trained and certified the HQ Way, providing information and service in their local communities and our production team is focused on building the highest quality machines in the quilting industry. If you love to work with needles and thread, then you'll love the way a Baby Lock machine can enhance your entire sewing experience. Baby Lock was the first company to bring the home serger to American sewing enthusiasts, and has since remained dedicated to bringing revolutionary sergers, sewing machines and embroidery machines to the market. Baby Lock got its start when a group of engineers in Japan took a chance on a new product. It was a smaller version of an industrial overlock machine or a "baby lock". A St. Louis-based, family-owned company saw the benefit of this new machine, and brought it to the United States. This marked the introduction of the first home serger in the U.S. market. Innovation Over the years, Baby Lock continued with industry-leading innovations to make its machines stand out among the rest. From patented serger features such as ExtraordinAir™ and Jet-Air Threading™ to smart IQ Technology™ working with the "brain" of sewing, quilting and embroidery machines, Baby Lock machines make it easy to achieve exactly what you desire. The Independent Retailer Difference Today, Baby Lock USA corporate office in St. Louis, Missouri, is still run by the same family that brought the first serger to the United States over 45 years ago. This family business started as a small independent sewing machine parts retail store, and to carry on this tradition, all Baby Lock machines and products are sold exclusively through Independent Authorized Baby Lock Retailers. Baby Lock products are never sold online. Authorized Baby Lock Retailers are much more than salespeople. They are sewing experts trained to help you make the most out of your sewing machines and accessories. These Baby Lock experts receive exclusive retailer training throughout the year, so you can be confident your questions will be answered. Additionally, only an Authorized Baby Lock Retailer can offer Baby Lock's exclusive machine warranties and the Gold Standard Comprehensive Care Program, which gives sewing enthusiasts extra peace of mind. "Sewlebrities" Baby Lock's network of sewing experts doesn't stop at the retail store. Many of your favorite "sewlebrities" use Baby Lock machines, too! "Sewlebrities" live life in the fast lane with a new taping, event appearance, or publication constantly in their minds. Baby Lock's user-friendly machines make it easy to film tutorials, write, and teach classes while creating beautiful projects for the world to see. Nancy Zieman, host of the PBS series "Sewing With Nancy", is the proud spokesperson for Baby Lock, and Quilters Hall of Fame inductee, Eleanor Burns, provides decades of quilting expertise and fun as the face of the Baby Lock quilting line. Baby Lock is also a proud sponsor of Fons & Porter's "Love of Quilting" on PBS starring Marianne and Mary Fons. Baby Lock’s "sewlebrity" list doesn’t stop there---Baby Lock is continually on the look out for up and coming stars in the sewing, quilting, and embroidery industries including popular bloggers, pattern designers, and more.
