Registration Instructions for taking The Dog Class As a Non-degree seeking student Thank you for your interest in Distance Learning at the University of Florida. Below you will find instructions on how to complete the registration process for this online course. This process will take approximately 1-2 weeks to complete. Remember that there are two methods to register for the class: (Method 1) As a Continuing Education (CE) student (Method 2) As a Non-degree seeking student The difference of the two registration methods is that a CE student will not receive University of Florida Academic Credit or a College transcript. When the class is finished for the semester you will receive a Certificate of Completion. Non-degree seeking students will receive University of Florida Academic Credit and a College transcript for this class. Students will need to petition their own Colleges and Universities to see if the credit for this class will transfer to their academic Institution. THE CONTINUING EDUCATION METHOD OF REGISTRATION IS A MUCH MORE STREAMLINED PROCESS TO SIGN UP FOR THE CLASS THAN IF A STUDENT REGISTERS AS A NON-DEGREE SEEKING STUDENT. Registration Process for Non-degree Seeking student *The last date to submit this application is the end of drop/add (August 28). Should you have any difficulty completing the below steps, please contact the Course Director (Dr. Larkin, pmlarkin@ufl.edu) 1) Complete the non-degree registration request form. When registering for an online course as a non-UF student, you must complete the Nondegree Registration Request form, which can be found at the following URL (https://www.isis.ufl.edu/cgi-bin/nirvana?MDASTRAN=RSI-NDAPB). Copy and paste the aforementioned link into your browser. When filling out the form, under “College” select “The College of Veterinary Medicine,College of VetMed-Course Only”. You do not need to input your UF ID# (you will receive this at a later step in this process). 1 The course prefix is (VME), the number is (4906), there is no suffix, and the section is (0840). If you are from another country besides the United States, when you are filling out the “Residency Information”, you will then be prompted to click either “alien” or “resident alien”. “Alien” simply means you are not a legal citizen of the U.S; whereas, “Resident Alien” means you have a U.S. Permanent Resident alien status, or green card. Be sure to hit the “apply” button at the bottom of the application when you are done. If the application is completed correctly, a “confirmation” screen will appear with a receipt number. Keep a record of this. Ignore the rest of the instructions on the screen, and continue to follow the instructions outlined below. After you finished completing this form, email the Course Director (Dr. Larkin, pmlarkin@ufl.edu). By doing this, I will know you are in the “UF system” and can move the process along much quicker for you. Please allow three (3) business days for this form to be processed. As your application is in the latter stages of being processed by the UF administrative folks, I will send you an email with your UF ID number so you can move on to Step 2 (Create a UF GatorLink Account). 2) Create a UF Gatorlink account. Gatorlink is an individual's computer network identity at the University of Florida. Every applicant, student, faculty and staff member is expected to have a Gatorlink username and password. You use your Gatorlink ID username and password to access UF’s services including logging into the online course website through Sakai. To create your Gatorlink account, go to (https://login.ufl.edu/idp/Authn/UserPassword) and click “GatorLink Account Creation”. Creating a GatorLink account takes about 5-10 minutes to complete. Allow 1 hour for “processing” within the UF system and then you will be able to move on to Step 3. Any problems creating a Gatorlink account, please call the UF Help desk at 352-392-4357 Hours of Operation Mon-Thurs: 7:30am-10:00pm Friday: 7:30am-5:00pm Weekends: 12:00pm-6:00pm 2 3) Clear holds and register on ISIS. Note: A Gatorlink account must be established before you will be able to access any information you need from ISIS. ISIS is the Integrated Student Information System. It incorporates registration and other functions such as transcript requests and tuition/fee payments. Before you can be registered for the class though, it is required that all students update their emergency contact information and acknowledge the terms of enrollment. You will be flagged and prevented from registering until this is completed. [[About now you are probably wishing you signed up for CE credit, but fear not… you are almost done!]] Visit ISIS at http://www.isis.ufl.edu/ to clear your flags. *If you cannot log into ISIS, wait one more business day. If after that time you are still having trouble contact the course Director (Dr. Larkin, pmlarkin@ufl.edu). Flag 1: Emergency Contact Information On the left-hand menu under “My Record” is an option to “Update Emergency Contact Info”, click this and you will be prompted to log-in with your Gatorlink account information then redirected to a new page to enter the information on who should be contacted in case of emergency. Don’t forget to click “Submit” at the bottom of the page to save your information. Note: the Emergency Contact Information hold may take 24 hours to clear after completion. Flag 2: Registration Acknowledgement On the left-hand menu under “Registration” click “Registration Prep”. You will be prompted to log-in with your Gatorlink account information. Your personal information will appear and you can click “Continue”. Then your registration start time and holds will be displayed. You should only see the following hold: "You may not register because you have not accepted the terms of enrollment. Click here to complete this process: Complete Registration Acknowledgment for [semester]". The last sentence is in blue. Click on the sentence and you will be taken to the registration acknowledgment form. Read each of the terms and check the "I Accept" box next to each choice. Note: If you receive a flag for an Immunization Form hold (you shouldn’t, but if you do), please contact me (Patrick Larkin, pmlarkin@ufl.edu) and I will straighten this problem out with the registrar’s office. 3 Registration Once you have cleared all of your holds, email Sally O’Connell (oconnells@ufl.edu) at 352294-4241 and she will register you for the class. 4) Pay tuition and fees on ISIS. To see if a military waiver can be used for a particular course please contact Stephen Rodgers, the Veteran’s Affairs specialist in the Registrar’s office, at 352-292-1374 or stephenwrodgers@registrar.ufl.edu. 5) Log into your online courses!
